My, my what a hot windy
June for us West Texas folk. The
last of 'une farm era "ail around
have started'their irrigation
water on the fields.
Doc Hays has just harvested
several hundred bales of hay
this week.
Mrs. Dick Clay visited Mrs.
L. V. Castleberry and Jean this
Monday. ,[»
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Archer
went to town Monday on business.
The Fairview Church sends
their deepest sympathy to Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Archer in the
death of their baby son who had
only lived a few hours. May the
good Lord send this young couple
comfort to their aching heart.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bales
who live at Seagraves visited Mr.
and Mrs. Dick Clay Sunday
morning. We missed the Clays
at church.
Mrs. Doc Hays was in town
Monday visiting her son, Troy.
Mr. and Mrs. Amon Jackson
visited Mr. and Mrs. Doc Hays
Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Dorothy Whitaker is
\ Opioing real good at present.
Mrs. Dick Clay went to see
Mrs. Homer Whitaker this week.
Mrs. Bell Whitaker is holding
her own at home.
Mr. J.C. Porter and his
brother brought his grandsons
out to see Mr. and Mrs. Homer
Whitaker this week.This seemed
to be quite a sport for Mr.
Porter's grandsons.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sinclair
took their baby, Richard, to
the doctor at Lubbock. The
doctor seemed to be real pleased
that the baby was holding his
own.
Mr. and Mrs. Cotcher from
Artesia, New Mexico came to
see Mr. and Mrs. Chester Sin-
clair this week.
Mr. and Mrs. A.D.Woodie
who work on the Tom Ranch
in Andrews came to see Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Sinclair and
family Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Hill and
their grandson, Preston, also
Mrs. Bessie Maltsberger, all
of Lamesa, Texas, came to see
Mrs. Opal Hughes this week.
Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Pattie
came to see Mrs. D, F, Rice,
also Mrs. Opal Hughes was
there. Mrs. Pattie bought her
some new eye glasses of which
she was well pleased.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cassell
and Billy have been on a two
weeks vacation. They reported
a good time and they did a lot
of visiting and lots of hot weath-
er.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie McHaney
was at church; said the grass-
hoppers had eaten their garden
up and all the leaves off their
flowers, also the grasshoppers
had done a number of their
neighbors' the same in South
Seminole.
Karl Hughes has been on a
fishing trip this week. He only
reported a good time. (Luck -
I wonder?)
Mrs. Opal Hughes, Mr. and
Mrs. L.H. Hughes and Mike
had a nice 42 game Sunday
afternoon.

Mr. and Mis. L. V. Castleberry
and family started their irrigation
water on the cotton Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Castleberry
and daughter, Jeanie, also Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Harvey's daughter
and Mrs. Lena Castleberry all
visited Mrs. L, V. Castleberry
and family this week. This was
a nice reunion.
Mr. and Mrs. Woodie Wright
and family out for church Sunday.
They was going to start their
irrigation water Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. L.H. Hughes and
Mike are fine. They was out for
Sunday School and church.
Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Pence
was not at church Sunday. They
was missed very much. Do hope
they was not sick.
Mrs. E. C. Nix's daughter and
Louann and husband came to see
her from Abilene. Don't you
know they are enjoying each
other.
Mrs. Vera Petit and Mrs'.Opal
Hughes went to the funeral to-
gether.
Mrs. Farris Brooks came down
to help clean up Mrs. Richard
Archer's house before she came
home Thursday.
Mrs. Opal Hughes went by to
see Mrs. Ethel Garland a little
while this week.
Mr. Charlie Strickland from
Ardmore, Oklahoma (Mr. Strick-
land is an old friend of Mr. and
Mrs. Noble Fox) is visiting a few
days with these old friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Noble Fox got
a letter from Brother Bill Klingle-
smith and faftiily. They live at
Dawson, Texas. He is pastor of
their church. He wrote they
were doing wonderful things for
the Lord.
Vera Petit, Fairy Blodgett,
Mrs. Opal Gazaway, Mrs. Sam
Malone and Mrs. E. C. Nix
enjoyed going to the different
peach orchards Saturday morn-
ing. They picked peaches at
Moore's Peach Orchard. Vera
said that Gaines County should
be proud of the orchards. She
reported that Mrs. Malone said
she never dreamed such in the
county.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Allen,
also Stanley and Bick, son
and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Kirk of Dallas, was all
at Sunday School. Also Mrs.
Floyd Halbrooks and baby son
was there. These grandchildren
was really a prize for Mr. and
Mrs. Gene Allen.
Mr. and Mis. Clyde Leverett
and children from Hobbs, New
Mexico visited the Hugh Castle-
berrys and their daughter ,
Georgia Perriam and her
daughter, Mrs. Morton came
to see the Hugh Castleberry
family this week.
Mrs. Barbara Wharton,
Terri and Ken of Buffalo,
Wyoming is visiting her
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Saylor.
