HEALING C0UNCEL IS OFFERED
There rre times in the lives of many that ‘‘try the soul”. An over-
whelm inir disas'er strikes, a business fails or a bodily injury cripples
to the extent that the victim can no longer perform the skill or vocation
for which he has trained. He searches the help wanted columns of his
newspaper, hunting for a job that his age or disability would enable him
to i erfoi m.
Many versons who find themselves in comparable situations have been
helped by some church organization, many of which have specific methods
of couneel, using dynamic principles to overcome failure, disaster, and
t\ ar, whii h are companions of ? trouble mind. Many have learned to
a ok tot • lace ; mi pence of His words and deeds. Many things can hap-

Stock show officials said the
Houston show held its first scram-
ble in 1942 when 24 calves were
awarded. It was not dreamed that
the project would result in putting
some 4,000 boys into the cattle
business in the next 23 years.
During (he course of one sea-
son. foiT hundred hoys now scram-
ble for 200 calves Half of the < tlf
certificates are given to bays in-
terested in dairy cattle .m-l other
half to those who prefer beef
cattle.
When the calf scramble con-
testant wins, his work has just
begun With his cash certTirate
he purchases the lies! animal he
can find. He must then care for
the calf, furnish monthly records
to the Houston Livestock Show .md
his sponsor, and return his ani-
mal to the show the next year.
As a result of the Calf Scram-
ble contests, nearly a million and
a half dollars in livestock cash
and prizes have been put into the
hands of Texas youth, giving them
a substantial start in business
Dates for the Houston show are
Feb. 24 through March 7. It opened
with the traditional downtown pa-
rade beginning at 10 a.m . featur-
ing elaborately decorated floats

PROCLAMATION
GREETINGS:
Special observance of increased
emphasis on our education system
has 1 ocn marked annually for fif-
teen years by a Public Schools
Week in Texas.
During this period parents are
encouraged to visit the public
schools, and ail citizens are urged
through special programs to recog-
nize the tremendous importance
of our system of education. Our
goal is to make Texas public
schools the finest in the Nation,
and to achieve this our citizens
are urged to take an active in-
terest in the school systems and
to cooperate with their school
boards, superintendents, princi-
pals and teachers.
Never before in our his*ory h-v
there beer, a greater need for
educated leadership As we rush
to train young people in science
and technology to keep pace with
world events, it is also important
to remember that our public
schools w ill furnish our tomorrow's
leaders with the basic human,
moral and spiritual foundations
necessary for more advanced train-
ing and knowledge.
THEREFORE, 1, as Governor
of Texas, do hereby designate the
period of March 1-5, 1965, as
PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
in Texas
In official recognition whereof
1 hereby affix my signature this
28th day of January, 1965.
