Friends For Hope and Support will be having
a meeting Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 5:30
p.m. The meeting will be at Hope House at 301

Colon Cancer Screening
Hendrick Cancer Center of Abilene will be at
the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department, located at the comer of 12th and
Elm Streets, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday,
March 26, 2009. They will be giving the fecal
occult blood test, a simple at-home procedure
that checks a stool sample for hidden blood,
which can be a sign of cancer, polyps or other
internal disorders. The American Cancer Society
recommends that men and women begin regu-
lar testing for colorectal cancer at age 50. There
will also be a new easier and more accurate test
this year.
Story Hour
Story Hour will be held at 10:45 a.m.
Thursday, March 26, at the County-City Library.
Dee Ann Mulanax will lead the parents and chil-
dren in stories and songs. Call 235-4978 for

Book Review Club
Sweetwater Book Review Club will meet for
their March meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, March
26, in the community room at the County-City
Library. The reviewer for the day will be Cheryl
Lewis of Hamlin and she will be reviewing
'Twelve Mighty Orphans," by Jim Dent. All
members are urged to attend, 'lhe new slate of
officers will lx* voted on at this meeting as well.

Lenten Fish Fry
Immaculate Heart of Mary' Church Parish
Council and Jamaica Committee will be hosting
a Lenten Fish Fry’ from 5-8 p.m. on Friday,
March 27, at Immaculate Heart of Mary', located
at 511 W. Alabama Street. The cost is $6 per
plate, including fried catfish, hush puppies, cole
slaw or chips, dessert and tea. Tickets mav be
purchased in advance or that day. For more

Masons
Sweetwater Masonic Lodge will host a District
78 education workshop at 7 p.m. Friday, March
27. Officers and all members of Fisher, 1 lilton
and Sweetwater are asked to attend.
Saturday, March 28
Benefit Dinner
West Texas Children's Advocacy Center and
Masonic Lodge #571 will have a benefit dinner
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, 2009,
at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex. There will
be barbecue sausage and chicken with all the
trimmings. A silent auction will take place during
the dinner and will close at 7 p.m. Entertainment
will also be provided.
Chureh Garage Sale
'Hie Fourth and Pine Church of God will have a
garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday,
March 28, inside the church fellowship hall.
There will be lots of miscellaneous items, lhere
will also be a bake sale and hot dog sale. All pro-
ceeds will benefit the church.
FTJMC Spring Fling
First United Methodist Church, located at 309
Cedar, will have their spring fling from 11 a.m. to
2 p.m. Saturday, March 28,2009, at the church.
There will be live music and many activities,
along with a free lunch for the entire family. TTie
public is invited to attend this free event.
TSTC Discovery Day
Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater
will have their Discovery Day from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. for potential students and their families
Saturday, March 28,2009. Students will tour the
campus and familiarize themselves with the cam-
pus and application process among other things.
There will also lx* it free lunch.
Coed Raghall Tournament
The Sweetwater varsity volleyball Team is host-
ing a fundraiser "Coed Ragball Tournament” to
raise money to go to camp at U.T. Austin in July.
All entry fee raised will go to the Sweetwater vol-
leyball team. The tournament will be held at the
Jerry Collins softball complex (in Sweetwater)
right across from Mustang Bowl on Saturday,
March 28, 2009. The cost $100 per team ($10
per child) in fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade
age divisions. For more information and to regis-

Krangus Breeders
The West Texas Brangus Breeders Association
will have their annual spring sale at noon
Saturday, March 28, at the Abilene Auction. The
sale will include registered bulls, registered
females, pail's, bred cows, bred heifers, open
heifers, commercial selected pairs, bred cows,
bred heifers and choice open replacement
heifers. Anyone desiring a sale catalog on regis-
tered cattle or further information may contact
