Horsethief-H'jnters will Feast.
Jenkintown, Pa.. Jan. 3.—The mem-
ber# of the i'nion society for the Re-
covery of Stolen Horses will hol l its
ninety-fourth annual meeting aud ban-
quet here tomorrow. The society was
formed in 1S12 and has ha,| a highly
interesting history. When a member
lose# a horse by theft nowadays, the
authorities of the various cities are
notified, hut only a comparatively few
years have elapsed since the “riding
list" was effective, and members would
ride for days, perhaps, on the trail of
the thief. Secretary .Vfkther, one of
the most interesting characters to at-
tend the banquet, is 80 years old and
has held the office of secretary con-
tinuously for thirty-seven years. His
brother is Isaac Mather, who was 99
years old on October 27. lnet year.
