urday eight when Lieutenant Gtzmaa
of tha 19:h Infantry fatally wounded
himself, Tha lieutenant and a brother
ofiller were out pointing tha olty Sat-
urday night and Lieutenant Gazman
had decided ha “wouldn't go homo
until morning.” At 2 o’olook a. m.

ealoon row. Olty Traaeurar Yalaa of
Jhsrtz wee present when tha young
ofiiaera got Into their row and ha In-
duced Lieutenant Gazman to agrta to
go home. The two left the saloon to-
gether, and aftar walking teveral
blooks Gazman announoed ha wae go-
icg to a danoe. Sanor Yalai took hold
of tha young offioar to try and oarry
him to ble quarters when Guzman
dr.w bis guQ and attampted to shoot
his friend. Sanor Yalae grappled with
the young man and lu the eooffie the
platol was discharged and Lieutenant
Gazman was fatally wounded. Tha
bullet entered his stomaoh and ha died
Sunday afternoon.
Before dying Guzman stated that
he hid been shot by Senor Yalae, but
Immediately aftar the aooldent Sanor
Yalas surrendered himself to the guard
and there wae no empty aheU In his
pistol, while the pistol of Gazman
oantalned an empty shall and showed
'hit It hid jast been fired. It Is not
believed that Senor Yalas will be held
responsible for Guzman's death.
