Hannah's standpoint it was a fortune.
Considering previous deprivations, she
held her head pretty level. Her only
extravagance w«* telegrams 8he
sent half a Uosen of them every day
- -great, long telegrams running to as
high as 100 words. Their cost began
to make Inroads even on. $1000. A
prospective heir felt constrained to
remonstrate against the needless ex-
pense.
‘‘If you must telegraph to all those
people,” ho said, "you ought to try to
keep It down to ten words."
Aunt Hannah displayed the first
real emotion of years.
"Ten words!" she retorted. "That
is just what 1 will not do. All my life
I have been restricted to 10-word tele-
grams. I have never sent many, for
people as poor as I have always been
have nobody to telegraph to nor noth.
Ing lu telegraph about, but whenever
I did telegraph I had to do It in ten

awful. I ached to add Just two or
