Pecos Valley south bound pulled
Into Hereford and side trucked a
car containing 38 substantial
citizens of Missouri und other
sections of the North. They were
brought under the supervision
of immigration agent, Talmage,
and taken In charge by local
citizens and shown over Here-
ford und adjacent country.
Cupt. J. C. Lea, endearingly
called "the father of Roswell,"
died Thursday morning from
an attack of pneumonia. At one
time Capt. Lea owned all the
land on which the town of Ros-
well Is now situated, moving
there soon ufter peace was de-
clared between the North and
South, he having served with
distinction In the Confederate
army.
