The Platforms.
Painters have just finished the
decorative work upon the new San-
ta Fe passenger depot at Weather-
ford, and the building is ready for
officials to move in. The round
house at that place is also nearing
completion, and a twister well,
fifty-five feet deep i,/ tw. 'e
in diameter has been sunk, i.t which
an abundant supply of water flows
freely. Water for all purposes will
be secured from this well.

A. H. Frisbie, station agent at
Eastland, Texas, while seated in
his office in company with his wife,
on Saturday last, was ordered to
“up with his hands,” and at the
same time shooting began, during
which the lights were put out. Mr.
Frisbie immediately sprang to the
door and closed it, at the same
time calling on his wife for a “gun ”
The robbers became frightened
and ran off, leaving an old slouched
white hat. No arrests and no clue
to the would be robbers.

Engine No. 59 which arrived
from the north Sunday noon, pull-
ing fre'ght, while hostler (Jlias.
Shankling was attempting to pass

near colliding with the passenger
train from the west. It seems
that the switchman failed to throw
the switch and she run up the

soon brought Engineer McKenzie

The remains of Engineer Jas.
Hitckcook were brought up from
Galveston Sunday in charge of
James Welsh and Henry Boyd, the
committee from the local lodge
Brotherhood of Locomotive Fire-
men. It was taken to the under-
taking establishment of Craine &
Wingfield, where it was embalmed
and placed in a inetalic coffin and
shipped to New Florence, Pa.,where
a weeping and moaning sister
awaits its arrival. Mr. Jas. Welsh
left in charge of the remains on the
5:05 a.ni. Sahta Feycsterday morn-
ing.

The fast closing year has been

disasters throughout the United
States, and especially so in Texas.
The greatest of all railroad horrors
occurred at Chatsworth in the
month of August,on which occasion
BALL AND LUNCH.
There is in store for the amuse-
ment loving people of Temple a
rare treat. It is the Grand Ball
and Lunch, previously mentioned
in these columns, to be given by
the Temple division No. 217, Order
Railway Conductors. The date set
for the same is December 23rd,
1887, and will likely take place at
the Bijou Opera House, due notice
of which will be given. A glance
at the names of the gentlemen that
comprise the committees having
this affair in hand, guarantees that
it will be made everything we
could desire. Followihg is a list of
