W. M. 8. SOCIAL
Last Monday Mesdames Byrd,
Bridges and Harrison received the
women of the church In a social
hour in the parlors of the Baptist
church of this place at the time
designated, 3 p. m.
The wind from the north was
whistling around the corner in
quite a remindful way, but that
didn't daunt our women who are
very faithful to this work. Every-
thing was warm and cozy with a
few pots of spring flowers here and
there.
Bro. Byrd, the pastor, brought
the devotional, by request. The
subject being "The Missionary
Heart” in his most gracious way.
The general theme for the after-
noon was a “Steadfast Purpose In
a Changing Wdrld" and those
carrying out this program In one
way or another were Mesdames
Alexander, Carter, Wehrung, and
Burke. Those offering prayers were
Bro. Byrd, Mesdames Huriock and
8anders.
Mrs. Boggess was chorister and
Mrs. Alexander conducted the pro
gram In the absence of Mrs. Ed-
wards, who was detained due to
sickness In the home.
During the social hour a delicious
salad plate was passed with hot
coffee and angel food cake. We
were also urged to be present next
Monday. Feb. 28 at 10 a. m. for
mission study book “Give Ye Them
to Eat” and to bring a covered
dish as lunch would be served at
the church.
