Miss Shirley Ann Ender of
Chilton and Donald Lee McCiin-
ton of Oglesby were married
■Saturday afternoon at St, Mar-
tin's Catholic Church in Tours.
Rev. Ed Geiser performed the
ceremony, and Miss Betty Mid-
dleton was organist.
Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Ender of
Chilton were hosts for a recep-
tion, supper and dance in St.
Martin’s Hall after the cere-
mony. The bridegroom’s parents
are Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClin-
ton of Oglesby.
Miss Frances Ender was her
sister’s, maid of honor. Brides-
maids were Mrs. Travis Mc-
Clinton, sister-in-law of the
bridegroom, and Miss Ruby Mae
Ender, bride’s sister. They wore
dresses in rose color and match-
ing pillbox hats with soft veils.
They carried cascades of pink
asters accented with French:
maline and pink satin ribbons.
The bride wore a floor-length
gown of silk peau de soie. Se-
quin-studded garlands of Chan-
tilly lace enhanced a basque
bodice and front of a bouffant
skirt. A pearlized orange blos-
som' crown held her veil and she
carried a cascade of trenched
carnations, stephanotis and lilies
of the valley centered with a
white' orchid.
Travis McClinton was his
brother’s best man. Harry sy-
kora and Joe Tom McKelvain
were groomsmen. Ushers were
Don Vandiver and the bride-
groom's nephew, Vick McClin-
ton. Bride's uncles Raymond
Mikeska of Arlington and James
Pavlicek of West were wit-
nesses.
Mrs. McClinton went to Chil-
ton High: School and her hus-
band graduated from Oglesby
High School and Four-C Col-
lege.
The couple went to Stage-
coach: Inn in Salado on their
honeymoon and will live in
Oglesby. Mr. McClinton is a
salesman with Gilmore and
Davis Furniture Co., in Mc-
Gregor,

To Speak At
Baptist Church
Rev. William H. Warren,
Southern Baptist Missionary to
Brazil, will be guest minister
at tile First Baptist Church
Sunday, August 4th for the
morning worship services at 11
a.m.
Rev. Warren is the pastor of
the Copacabana Baptist Church
in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. He ar-
rived in the States with his
family July 17th after serving
in the field since November,
1958, and will be home on fur-
lough for a year before return-
ing to Rio.
Mr. Warren is a graduate of
Hardin-Simmons University and
Southwestern Baptist Theolo-
gical Seminary in Fort Worth,
having held pastorates in Mexia
and South: Wayside Baptist
Church, Fort Worth, before be-
ing one of file first mission-
aries to be appointed to an Eng-
lish-speaking church on a for-
eign field.
He is tile son of Mr. and M'rs.
Burney Warren of Meridian,
and his wife is the former Lola
Robinson of Kopperl. The War-
rens have three sons and two
daughters and will make their
hone in Fort Worth while on
leave Mr. Warren is the brother
of Mrs. Alvin Payne.

Horaks Feted
On Golden
Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Horak
of Penelope were honored on
their Golden Wedding Anni-
versary Sunday, July 28 with a
Mass at 9 a.m. at the Church
of the Nativity of the Blessed
Virgin Mary in Penelope.
Mr. and Mrs. Horak were mar-
ried July 29, 1913, in Penelope,
and have resided there most of
their lives. Mr. Horak, a retired
farmer, is a native of Dubina,
Texas, and Mrs. Horak is the
former Miss Anna Drozd of
Praha, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Horak
have three daughters, Mrs. J. D.
Janes and Mrs. Charles Schnei-
der both of Waco, and Mrs.
Louis Pribyla of Mt. Calm; one
son Eugene C. Horak of Deni-
son and four grandchildren.
Dinner was served at noon to
120 relatives and friends at the
parish hall. Music for the oc-
casion was furnished by the
Holy children of West.
Out of town guests included
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Svoboda and:
Conrad; Miss Lillian Drozd of
Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Ludmila
Dulak of Chicago, 111.; Mrs.
Philonrena Salerno of Dallas;

West Cub Scouts
Have Train Ride;
Hillsboro Picnic
Tlie Kiwanis Club of West
sponsored a train ride and wa-
termelon cut for the Cub Scout
Pack No. 39, this past week. The
boys, along With their adult
leaders, rode the train from Wa-
co to Hillsboro where they were
met by their parents and taken
to the City Park for a water-
melon cut.
A pack meeting was held at
t'he park and the following
awards were presented: An-
thony Vonasek, Lion Badge and
Golden Arrow; Charles Vonasek,
two Silver Arrows, two-year pin;
Richard Cernosek, Gold and
Silver Arrows and one-year pin;
Everett Burden, Wolf Badge and
Denner Badge; Jimmy Wilcox,
Lion Badge, Gold and two Silv-
er Arrows; Michael Pareya, two
Gold and four Silver Arrows;
Anthony Muska, Gold and Sil-
ver Arrows; Richard Matus, Gold
Arrow; and Thomas Hubik, one
Gold, t.wo Silver Arrows.
In addition Wolf adges were
awarded to: Bobby Hurtt, Da-
vid Fleming, Dennis Gerik Mike
Miller, Mike Rydel, Larry Lands,
Stanley Vrana, Mark Lee
Adamson and Dwayne Rowell.
“Cub Camp Day” has been set
for August 22, and on that day
the boys will spend a day at
Camp Tahluaya. __
Former Westites
Attend College
Huntsville — Two former
Westites, Naida Goldsmith and
Marvin Ray Goldsmith are
among the 2.012 registered at
Sam Houston State Teachers
College for the second six weeks
summer session.
The total breaks the record
for the second summer term en-
rollment by 66. It also repre-
sents a gain of summer stu-
dents of over a 100 per cent in
10 years.
The students are from 338
towns in 120 Texas counties,
six other states and 11 foreign
countries. ____

Miss Duijka is a graduate of
West High School and attended
Four—C Business College in
Waco. She is presently employed
at General Tire and Rubber Co.
in Waco. Mr. Roden is a grad-
uate of Joshua High School and
attended Cisco Junior College.
Mr. Roden is employed in Fort
Worth.

3:00 p.m. September 14, 1963, at
the St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Waco.

To Repeat Vows
Mr. and Mrs. Drue Shelton of
Latham Springs have announc-
ed the engagement oif their
daughter, Eva Janell, to Don R.
Dworacek of West.
Miss Shelton, a 1963 graduate
of Aquilla High School, is pres-
ently employed at Latham
Springs Encampment. Her fi-
ance is employed at Cameron
Mill in Waco.
The couple is planning a Sep-
tember wedding.
Westites Visit
Sunday In Dallas
Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Vanek and
Mr. and Mrs. Lud Zapalac of
West visited in Dallas Sunday,
to see their newest nephew,
Eric Charles Ware. Also making
the trip were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Stanislav and family, of West.
Eric Charles, who was born
May 14th, is the son of Richard
and Lorrine Ware of Dallas.
Proud grandparents are Mrs.
Molly Vanek Semrad, the late
Mr. Semrad, and Ml', and Mrs.
Joseph E. Ware, Sr., of Gardin-
er, Maine.
During the afternoon, other
relatives and friends gathered
at the Semrad home. Those
present were, Mary Ann and
Jack Adams and son; Raymond
Zapalac, Martha and Avery
Dowdy and sons; Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Kohi and family, and
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hassett
and son. Mrs. Adams and Mrs.
Dowdy are daughters of Mr. and
Mrs. Zapalec. The Hassetts are
Godparents to young Eric.
To complete their day, the
group visited the new Tandy
Craft and Hobby Mart in Down-
town Dallas, of which Mr. Ware
is manager and they also toured
the Love Field Airport, then re-
turned to West late Sunday

Class Meets
Members of the TEL Sunday
School Class of the First Bap-
tist Church met Thursday after-
noon in the home of Mrs, Al-
bert Miller for their monthly
meeting.
Mrs. Sanders opened the meet-
ing with a prayer. Mrs. McCoy
gave the devotional on “Love
Thy Neighbor”. Debbie Reed and
Kathey Long sang a duet. Mrs.
Taylor presided for the business
meeting with chairmen reports.
Mrs. Jarrett dismissed with
prayer.
Refreshments of ice cream,
cookies and cold drinks were

Sharon Binder, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. J. Binder of
Waco, spent ten days last mon-
th attending Camp Val Verde
near McGregor.
Sharon, 11, a member of the
Camp Fire Girls received a free
camp&hip as the result of selling
the mast candy in the sixth an-
nual candy sale of Camp Fire
Girls of Waco and surrounding
area; from a membership of
more than two thousand girls.

Five Hill County girls attend-
ed five District 8 Girls 4-H
Leadership Training Camp on
July 1st and 2nd at the First
Christian Camp Retreat on
Lake Brownwood, Brownwood,
Texas:. Those attending were
Eeth Pringle, Jimmie Sue Jen-
nings, Shirley Kallus, Betty
Hlavaty and Darlene Ready.
One hundred and thirty-nine
girls attended the two-day
workshop.
The program consisted of in-
structions in party foods, rec-
reation, citizenship, public
speaking and leadership.
Vesper services were held the
first night and the next morn-
ing at sunrise all the girls par-
ticipated in the Flag Raising •
Ceremony.

Austin — O. L. Nedbalek. West
High School Vocational Agri-
culture Teacher for the past
eighteen years will be honored
by the Vocational Agriculture
Teachers Association of Texas
in Dallas, August 7, according to
Ralph S. Mteer of Stephen-
ville, President of the organiza-
tion. Nedbalek will receive the
twenty five year tenure award
for his dedicated service to the
vocational agriculture teaching
profession.
The award will be presented
at the annual awards breakfast
of the Association. The break-
fast is a part of the state-wide
conference of Vocational Agri-
culture Teachers and the 1963
conference will be exploring the
various avenues of service ren-
dered the Nation’s Agriculture
through Agriculture Education.
Educational features of the
four-day meeting will be under
the direction of George Hurt,
Director of Agriculture Educa-
tion, Texas Education Agency.
He will be assisted by J. A. Mar-
sii.all, demon Montgomery, E.
L. Tinner and ten Area Super-
visors, including A. B. Childers
of Waco.
Nedbalek is a 1931 graduate
of Beevilie High, school and re-
ceived tire Bachelor of Science
Degree from Texas A. and I.
College at Kingsville. In addi-
tion to his work at West High
School he also taught at Glen
Rose, Riesel and N Charco High
Schools.
For his work with vocational
agriculture students, Nedbalek
was awarded the Honorary Lone
Star Farmer Degree by the Tex-
as Association of Future Farm-
ers, the organization’s highest
award. Twenty-two young men
under his supervision have
earned the state's highest award
in FFA Work, the Lone Star
Fanner Degree.
Approximately 1200 teachers
and friends will attend the Dal-
las meeting when Nedbalek will
be recognized for his service to
vocational agriculture in Texas.

held in the West High School
Homemaking Kitchen July 22-
26. Mrs. Fannie Mae Vernon,
Texas Power and Light repre-
sentative, conducted the classes.
Those receiving their cooking
badges on Friday were: Bar-
bara Ford, Kathy Fleming,
Mary Betbi Smith, Jeanette Kri-
zan, Kathy Faglic, Nancy Lands,
Linda Wilcox. Mitzi Hcitmiller,
Debra Donahue and Sue Han-

day night. A steak supper was
