CROW TOWN
“Caw, caw," aatd Mr. Crow.
“Caw, caw," said Benjamin Black
Crow.
"Caw caw, caw, caw," auld Charlie
Crow.
"Caw, caw, caw, caw," aald Clifford
Grow.
“Caw, caw, caw," aald Clement Crow.
“Caw, caw, caw," aald Master Crow.
"Yea,” aald Mr. Crow, “come on back
to Crow Town thta afternoon."
It waa then early, early in the morn-
ing, and all the erowa were chattering
and talking. They had gone off for
their morning meal and had left Crow
Town, hut there waa no telling when
they might come bock agnln. They
used to apend their time flying off to
aee what they could get that waa good
to eat and then going back again to
Crow Town.
Crow Town was In a ravine. There
were a number of treea there which
were Inhabited by the erowa, and a
good nolay old Crow Town It waa, too.
For the Crows used to talk aa they
went off to get their food, they crowed
as they got up In the morning, they
crowed when they were through eat-
ing—oh-, It seemed as though they
crowed all the time.
“Cajv. caw,” said Mr. Crow. “I hod
n fine night's rest last night. The night
before my sleep was disturbed.”
“Indeed," aald Benjamin Black
Crow.
"Caw, caw, caw, caw, Indeed," aald
Charlie Crow.
“Caw, caw, caw, caw, caw," aald
Clifford Crow.
* “Indeed,” he added, after a moment.
“Caw, caw, caw, caw, Indeed," laid
Clement Crow,
"Cew, caw, caw," said Maater Grow.
"Indeed 1"
“Yea," aald Mr. Crow. There waa
auch a bad thunder and lightning
etorm, and I waa ao nervous and ao
afraid the trea would blow down that I
really could not get my good night’s
rest. But last night I went to bed eerly
and such a splendid aleep as I did hare.
I just feel eo very, very fine and fresh
and rested now." And he talked more
than ever.
Some people In a honae which over-
looked the ravine awoke and aald to
one another: "Well, we’re certainly
getting up early thla aummer because
of those erowa. In fact, we get up so
early that we get aleepy now very soon
after the sun goes down. We're getting
to be like the blrd^"
So the erowa had their meal and the
lady crows marketed, too, and tha little
crows were all fed when they came
back home again, later on In tha morn-
ing.
Once more they wandered off, but
they all came back to Crow Town In
the afternoon. For that afternoon
there waa n special Crow Town Re-
ception. It was given by Mr. Crow and
many of the lady erowa helped him
"Such a Splendid Tea Party."
with the preparations. And In tha
morning he had whispered to each
crow and had suggested that a little
hit of food In the afternoon would.be
welcomed In Crow Town, for there
might not be enough to go nround. In
this way every one would be sure of
having some food. And so the crowe
brought food and there wna food
hand and there wae auch excitement In
the trees In tha ravine.
Oh, Crow Town waa nolay that af-
ternoon ! A tea party In grownup land
Isn't any noisier than a tea party In
Crow Town. The people who lived near
the ravine looked out of their windows
and went out upon their porch to see
what waa going on.
They knew there waa no tronhle,
for the crowe' voices were all cheery
and not pained. But, oh, dear, It did
aeem aa though each crow waa so anx-
loua to mnke himself heard that ha
talked IoArier than any of tha others.
For tha voices rose higher and hlghar.
Noisier and nols|ar graw tha party.
But, oh, auch a splendid tea party aa It
waa. And how glad avery nna waa, too,
that Mr, Crow had thought of having
thla raceptlon. Oh, yaa, It waa a Ann
party, and tha fact that It waa nolay
made It all tha nlcar. If It had bean
quiet It would have been very dull.

He waa very generous at times to
those who served him. I know one

He was shocked at the Idea.
"Certainly not! Don't you know
