LETTERS FROM
COLLEGE BOYS
AND GIRLS
Editor of the Carrollton
Chronicle:
I thought that a news item
concerning the Denton County
A A M Club at College Sta-
tion would interest you and your
readers; especially those in and
around Hebron, as there are
twnofusfrom that community
at A A M, Joe Furneaux. Ch. A.
S. C. College Station and my-
self (Guy Lord, Co. E. Inf., Col
lege 8tation).
The A A M Denton County
Club held their first meeting of
the year, last Sunday week Oct-
ober 1, for the purpose of elect
ing officers- This gave tlqs new
members a chance to get ac
quainted with the men from
their own county. The follow-
ing officers were elected: B E.
Tobin of Aubrey, President;
W. D. Kirkpatrick of Lewisville,
Vice President; Ben Leuty of
Hi ' Justin, Secy, and Tress., G. W.
.Lord of Hebron, Reporter.
The purpose of the club is to
enable A A M men to become
acquainted with their home
county fellow students. Also to
provide ncessary entertainment
for the members. Meetings
are held every other Sundty.
There were twenty members
present. This was a very good
attendance for the first meet-
ing. There were men present
practically ever corner of the
county. A list of tiiose present
at the first meeting follows;
B. E. Tobin, Aubrey; W. D,
Kirkpatrick, Lewisville; Ben
Leuty, .1 ustin. G. W. Lord, He
bron; K. D. Pearson, Denton;
I. B. Tombllson, Dent in; J. A.
Allison, Donton; C. M. Under-
wood, Denton; E. W. Garnett,
Denton; A. J. Wade. Sanger:
W. R. Smith. Sanger; N. V.
Bntls, Stinger; F. S. Burks,
Pilot Point. C. A. Smith, San-
ger; J. P. Jones, Pilot Point;
W. B. Montgomery, Jr. Pilot
Point; A. W. Hallo v, Sanger;
J. M. Gurley, Deiitm; J. E
Furnau*, Hebron; C. D. Hayes,
Little‘Elm. There are about,
fivo or ten more boys fr< ra Den
ton County who are uot included
in thia list.
A *fe M College is very crowd-
ed this year with an enrollment,
of over 1900. Every facility lias
been strained to properly care
for this record breaking student
body. A number of the boys
have been placed in tents, in-
cluding five from Denton
County. These tents are very
comfortable, however. They
have wooden floors, are boarded
up part of the way, and screen
ed the rest of the way. All the
tents are lighted with electrici-
ty. The boys from Denton
County who are in the tents
seem very well satisfsed with
their quarters.
In spite of these overcrowded
conditions, due to the States
failure or Idability to provide
domltoriea, tills session of tbs
college bids fair to be the most
successful! in the history cf the
college.'’
Yours rsspeotfuily,
Guy. W. Lord,
Club Reporter.
