Souvenirs Received
By Local Woman
Mrs. W M. Humphries received
a gift box last week from her hus-
band, who Is stationed on Luzon.
The box Included a beautiful vari-
colored grass skirt, a necklace and
bracelet made of smooth heavy
shells, a pair of whttegold earecrews
with the design of a Japanese wo-
man Imbedded In them, a small
Jagged dagger, a pair of Japanese
shoes with wooden wedge heels that
were cut out In the shape of Jap-
anese homes, a locket made as a
cross and Inlaid with pearl, two
rubber pouches In which the Jape
carried valuable papers, a tattered
billfold containing Japanese bills,
small change, and pictures of Jap-
anese women, men and children,
and also a small silver and gold
spoon designed like a drago®.
Mrs Humphries' husband bas
been overseas with the Infantry
since the last of February.

Victory Holiday on Wednesday when our employees as
well as those of other businesses in town celebrated the
end of the war with Japan. Since our paper is made up
and printed on Wednesday and Thursday, it was impossi-
ble, for us to get the usual tiae paper out in one day. Both
news and ads were left out this week, but neat week we
will resume our regular siae publication.
