Key Thought: If you love Me, obey Me; and I will ask the Lather and He
will give you another Comforter and He will never leave you. He is the
Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, the Spirit Who
leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, He is unknown to the
world, but you do for He lives with you now, someday shall be in you.
John 14: 15-17. Living Bible.
Jesus knew His departure was drawing near. His disciples would be
alone and frustrated. (Read Acts 2nd Chapter). For the initial
sweeping-down of the Holy Spirit, note: Cornelius and his household
listening to the first gospel sermon they had ever heard - when Peter
came to the climax of his sermon (Acts. 10:43) he said Bear all the
prophets witness that through His Name everyone that believed on Him
shall receive the remission of sins.” . .Here while Peter yet spoke these
words the Holy Spirit fell on all of them that heard the WORD. In cither
the old or new testament when the Holy Spirit is spoken of, it is in
reference also with an action of service for the Lord. John truly baptised
with water but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days
hence. Note: a lapse of time before the regenerate disciples would
receive the Holy Spirit. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is every believer s
privilege and birthright through the crucified, risen, ascended Savior.
Jesus prayer for the church, “I will ask the l ather and He will send
another Comforter to take Mv Place, the world won l sec Him but ye
know Him for He dwcllcst with you and shall soon he in you.” John 14:
15-17. Now many believers have not claimed the Holy Spirit, they are
ignorant of the great gift. They do not realize that the Holy Spirit is not
to make the believers happy, but to make us useful, to equip us and fit
us for service. The Holy Spirit is called a person by Jesus in the Bible.
The personality of the Holy Spirit is the same as any living person.
Knowledge, feeling and will. Any hemg who knows and feels and wills is
a person whether he has a body m not II the Lord delayed His (. oming
before we are called home, we will cease to have a body. But, we will be
a person and at home with the Lord II t hristians would study and pray
for communion with the Holy Spirit as we pray to the Heavenly Father,
conviction would he assured
