The T. L. Liles family returned
Sunday night from a vacation spent
in Shreveport, Louisiana and Hot
Springs, Arkansas.
Miss Joy Allen who is in sum-
mer school at Baylor University,
was home for Father’s Day with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Allen.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat McLaughlin
have returned from, a five day
trip to San Antonio, Austin and
Marble Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Sparks
spent Saturday and Sunday in Hal-
lettsville visiting Rev. and Mrs.
Frank Perry, Jr. Their daughter,
Mrs. Perry celebrated her birth-
day Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hawkins
have as their guests this week
their nephew and niece, Rev. and
Mrs. Ray Cloudt and daughter,
Carla Jo, of Howe, Texas. Rev.
Cloudt is pastor of the Baptist
Church in Howe.
Mrs. Hollie Grass of Houston is
visiting her sister, Mrs. C. J.
Craft.
Mrs. R. E. Lunch and Mrs. Jan-
et Greenwood visited Mrs. R. J.
Bindley in Beeville Thursday.
Mrs. Clint Brown and daughter,
LaRue of Houston were Sunday
guests in the R. E. Lynch home.
‘Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Blair visit-
ed Mrs. Blair’s sister, Mrs. J.
H. Witt, in San Antonio last Wed-
nesday and Thursday.
{Mr. and Mrs. Bill Goforth and
children who live in New Jersey
expect to arrive in Refugio Mon-
day or Tuesday to spend their
vacation with their parents, the N.
H. Goforths and the R. W. Blairs.
Don Whittenberg was a week
end guest in the Art Nelson home.
Bobby Wilpitz of Corpus Christi
spent the week end with his par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Wilpitz.
Next week he will attend the Na-
tional Land Man’s Meeting at the
Shajmrock Hilton Hotel in Houston
as Corpus Christi district repre-
sentative for the Tennessee Gas
and Transmission Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Boone and
baby of San Marcos were here
for the week end with the Clyde
Boones.
Mrs. Mayme Day returned Mon-
day from Fentress where she had
visited her mother.
Miss Mary McMichael is in
Teague helping to care for her
father who fell several weeks ago
and broke some ribs. He is past
ninety years old.
Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Large and
daughter, Cindy, of San Antonio
visited Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Lynch
Thursday afternoon. Mr. Large is
a nephew of Mr. Lynch.
Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Wild/man
visited in Edinburg from Friday
through Sunday. They were joined
there by friends from, Kerrville.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Landrum
and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Whitlow
attended the T.M.T.A. 27th Annual
Convention in Houston June 15-17.
They enjoyed a full program of en-
tertainment.
Mrs. O. L. Overton returned
Sunday from a two weeks trip to
Dallas for a medical check-up and
to Odessa where she visited her
sisters. Mr. Overton met her in
San Antonio Sunday.
Mrs. Addie Una Robinton and
son, Joe, of Bethany, La., and
Mrs. W. E. Farber of Houston
spent from Thursday to Saturday
visiting friends in Refugio. Mrs.
Robinton was a teacher in the
Refugio Junior High School. Her
husband, the late Moody Robinton,
was an employee of Union Pro-
ducing Co.
Mr. and Mrs. M. V. Cousins of
Shreveport, La., spent the week
end with Mr. and Mrs. G. V.
White. Mrs. Cousins and Mrs.
White are sisters.

Refugio. — Mr. and Mrs. Elroy
Trojcak became the proud par-
ents of ar. infant girl bom Tues-
day June 20, at 2:22 a.m- in Re-
fugio County Hospital.
Leslie Katherine weighed S
pounds 2 ounces at birth. She was
welcomed by a sister, Trayce
Renee’, 22 months and a brother,
Charles Dean, 10 months.
Paternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Trojcak of Re-
fugio and maternal grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Stauss
of Woodsboro.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Sullivan of Refugio announce the
engagement of their daughter, Sylvia Anne, to Mr. Rob-
ert A. Greiner, Jr., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A.
Greiner, Refugio.
A September 9 wedding in Our Lady of Refuge
Catholic Church is planned.
Miss Sullivan, graduate of Refugio High School, at-
tended Our Lady of the Lake College (Beta Alpha).
She is presently employed in San Antonio.
Her fiance, a 1957 graduate of Refugio High School,
expects to receive his degree in business administration
from St. Mary’s University in August. He is a member
of the Order of the Barons fraternity.

Seated at the dining table in their home are Mr.
and Mrs. Will Martin who entertained with a five-day
family reunion at their home in Refugio in celebration
of their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary.
They were married in 1906 in Hamilton County, Tex-
as and have reared five children—three boys and two
girls—all of whom were here for the reunion.
California; another son, Billy D.,
with his wife, Eloise, and their
children, Mike and Kimberly of
California; another son Bob, with
Their son, I. D. Martin, and
family who were all here, include
Mr. and Mrs. I. D. Martin and
son, Darrell, from China Lake,
his wife, Rachel, and little daugh-
ter, Melody.
Also present to celebrate his
parents anniversary was their son,
Gorman Martin, with his wife, La
Verna, and their two sons, Glenn
and Rawley, who live on Rio Vis-
ta Street in Corpus Christi.
Their third son Leslie F. Mar-
tin, and wife, Catherine, of Port
Arthur were here with their
daughter, Carrie Lee Adams, and
her husband, Leslie Adams, who
mjake their home in Kountze.
Here frocgi, Opalopsps, Louisiana,
were the Martin’s daughter, (Wy-
nona), and her hifsband, Jesse
Shaw, with their sons Rhody and
Scottie, and son-in-law and daugh-
ter (Nancy), Mr. and Mrs. Don
Cobb and baby Leslie Don.
The Martin’s other daughter,
Sybil, is Mrs. Bill O’Rear of Re-
fugio. She and Mr. O’Rear and
their daughters, Brenda and Bar-
bara, and little son, Jeffery, were
also present to help celebrate the
occasion.
In commemoration of their an-
niversary, Mrs. Betty Genty and
Mrs. George Owens presented the
Martins a beautiful wedding cake.
In speaking about their anniver-
sary last week, Mrs. Martin said
she was thankful fior so many
wonderful friends in Refugio since
they have lived here only two
years. They formerly lived in Cor-
pus Christi.

attempting to make a cow-hand
cut of Ricky Franke. Ricky has
been “helping” Edgar on the Jet-
er Ranch during the mornings.

The high school library is open
week - day mornings. Patricia
Schultz will be librarian for the
first half of the summpr and Paula
McCullough will be the latter half.

Linda Leftrick, Pat Simpson,
and Judy Henderson are among
the many girls sporting shorter
hair styles.

“All U.I.L. medals have arrived
in the office” stated Principal H.
E. Harris recently.

Bobby McGuill has a wolf horn
for his car, but has been unable
to put it into use. The horn now
occupies a place of honor on the

Attend Assembly
Refugio. — Mrs. Janet Green-
wood accompanied five Refugio
girls to Dallas Sunday where they
have been attending the Grand
Assembly of the Order of the
Rainbow for Girls. The girls,
members of the local chapter,
were Natalie Ann Green, Martha
Smith, Ann Smith, Gloria Somers
and Linda Willis. Barbara Smith
expected to join them in Dallas.
The group expects to return to
Refugio Thursday.

Twenty-two Driver’s Education
students passed their written
tests last Friday and received
their beginners’ licenses. The stu-
dents will take their driving tests
July 7.

week end. Her roommate, Lor-

U. Gilliams.

Mrs. Annie Long, visited the Cant-

Long lives in Victoria.

home from Camjp Wesley. The
dark - haired senior reports that
she really had a lot of fun.

Leftrick, and Martha Stover went
to Corpus Christi recently to pur-
chase identical outfits for cheer-
leader camp at Sam Houston
where they will work as a group.
