resentative Mr Dixon stated that tne

mlsston In Its efforts to have the hor-
ticultural products of the Stale adequate-
ly represented at the World's Fair i'lia
prime oblect of the meeting of the com-
mittee he' stated was for . the purpose

announced his candidacy for county as-

ton in UM and before .reaching the ago
of 4 years was thrown upon his own re-
sources ante forced to earn his livelihood
by bis Individual efforts. He started out
In life as a newsboy on the old Telegraph
and later learned the printing trade
when he was forced by failing health to
change hie occupation. He located at
Bear Creek In this county where he
farmed tor five years. In the fall of 18&i
he' returned to Houston and pursued the
Occupation of locomotive fireman on th
Houston and Texas Central railroad serv-
ing In that capacity for two yean when
htf again resumed his trad of printer at
which he worked until lt4. Jn the apring
of that year he was appointed market
master -a position he held for four yeara
retiring In 1898 and again returning to
his trade until 1002 when he was appoint-
ed market master which office he now so
ablly and satisfactorily fills.
Mr. Miller's many friends point with
Cride to his record a market master Me
loumbenoy having proved In every way
aUatactory to th patrons and oltlsens.
It hi largely due to hi untiring effort
that th new market was so thoroughly
and harmoniously organised.
Mr. Miller pledge himself. If elected to
discharge the duties of th office fairly
and impartially and be an officer for all
