JL L. U00SE GOT BACK
With Blanche Almont and Woodblood
Yesterday Eace Track Gossip.
M. L. Moore got In yesterday with Ed-
mondson's fast pacer Blanche Almont and
Lahourcade's speedy 1-year-old colt Wood-
blond. Both hones looked to be in splendid
shape and Moore says they are faster now
than they ever were In all their racing
careers snd they look the part Moore says
he bad a great time the past season and won
several good races with horses In his charge.
Blanche Almont started In eighteen races
and In no race waa she ever out of the
money. Blanche had a good year and re-
turns home as sound as a dollar end faster
than ever. Woodblond started In several
races and made a good showing In all of
them and la In fine condition. Moore himself
looks as If he had trained down a little too
fine.
Three running horses blew In yesterday
and are quartered at the track. They be-
long to John' Stewart of Corslcana. An-
other bunch of gallopers are expected today.
It was lively at the track yesterday after-
noon and the race course looked like a min-
iature country fair.

Dan Patch the greatest harness horse that

Houston Fair and Racing association had
made a contract with M. W. Savage the
owner of Dan patch te give an exhibition

$2600 and the' greatest crowd that had ever
been In Houston was expected en that data
and when the news was received that the
champion pacer would not come the efBcera

disappointed. .
They received a wire from Savage two days
ago stating that Da a. would not be gent te

hoping that the matter might be straight-

had been injured the sews was not given

John A. Drake Is ef tnelnr feel sura that
he can not have .won s the snason because
ne aanoeneta four weeks ago that he has
done with the gams as the bookmakers
would never lay trim a fair price. 8tllL there
is excellent authority for the story thlt when
the gelding General Baler won at Oravesend
June U a quarter of a million dollars was
taken outdf the ring by Mr Drake and his
friends There was plenty of time however
to lose back this enormous amount and more.
Mr. Drake has not been at the races for sev-

Another heavy loser on the season Is "Chi-

If he loses one of these bets he must win

In the course of eleven ye:irs he has ac-
quired a' fortune of 113 006 by that method.
He Is known to have set tJo.uOO on a favor-
