United States senate was sent tonight
denied positively that he had knowledge
of any money being used In the election.
He also declared be would visit Spring-
field Thursday and testify before tbe
Helm senate investigating committee.
"I don't know Mr. Punk" he said. "I
never saw him to my knowledge and
. 'would not know him if I saw him on the
tract. I am acquainted with Mr. Hinea

AUSTIN Texas April . The regents
of the University of Texas spent tbe en-
tire day and part of the night familiaris-
ing themselves with conditions at the
university the expenditures that are
made each month and the condition of
the Institution in every respect.
The complaint against the stones that
have been used In the university library
building the lack of mortar that has
been reported In some Instances and oth-
er matters pertaining to this building
hare not been gone Into. However
George W. Littlefield. who as a member
of the committee on public buildings
has been looking into this matter for the
past several months called attention to
the fact that he desires a careful inspec-
tion of the building made. It will be
made tomorrow.
The regents went over every detail of
expenditure to determine how much they
night use from their permanent Income
for the university library building which
they have not funds to complete or
furnish. They were in somewhat of a
quandary because they do not know what
allowance they will get from the legis-
lature. Hence they figured upon a very
uncertain proposition.
No action was taken In filling any va-
cancies that may occur andx President
Meses will report upon them at the May
meeting. The resignation of Dr. Newman
has already been shown.

phones over which her husband was talking-
to her victim until she awoke la a
doctor's office with her son Clarence
kissing her. Rigorous cross-examination
tailed to elicit one word from the woman
as to the actual killing. Her examina-
tion in chief and cross-examination last-
ed nearly an hour.
Arguments and preparation of the
judge's charge consumed the remainder
of the day the case being given to the
Jury at IrOL Ten minutes later the jury
announced there waa no chance for an
agreement during the night.

Q. Madam A. I always went to my

y. Now how frequent did that occur?.
A. Every time I prayed at all I prayed
for Mrs. Blnford.
Q. Madam? A. Every time I -prayed
a prayer at all I prayed for Mrs. Bin-
ford. Prayers Three Times a Day.
Q. How often was It your custom to pray
at that time and during the four years?
A. Well. I always had one regalar hour
afternoons every day and then night and
morning but for that matter I guess was
in constant of coune I didn't prsy con-
stantly for her all the time but I prayed
for her three times a day regularly.
Q. How often? Was it three times a
day? A. Xes. sir.
Q. And over what period did these
prayers for her last"? A. Well I general-
ly said

A. It seemed like I always prayed the
same-prayer every time I waa afraid
sometime the good Lord didn't hear me.

heard this phone conversation you testi-

go to your sister's house after yoa heard
the phone's message? Tou can net say

edge? A. I did not.

know.
