George founder of the George Junior
Republic was exonerated today by the
board of directors of the National As-
sociation of Junior Republics of charges
brought against hint recently In connec-
tion with his treatment of certain young
women members of the Preeville Repub-
lic. In this State.
The action was taken by the board at
a meeting here for the purpose of con-
sidering the report of a special com-
mittee appointed to Investigate the
charges. A board of Judges comprising
Joseph H. Choate Samuel Seabury and
Miss Lillian D. Wald to whom records
of the case had been submitted found a
week ago that George had been guilty
of "wilful misconduct la fits relation to
young women cltixens of the Freevllle
Republic but had not been swayed by
n desire to Injure or abuse them." The
report of the special committee and the
opinion of the board of Judges were up-
held by the National directore of whom
11 were present at the meeting beven
other directors including Judge Ben
Lindsey of Denver Colo. had sent com-
munications to the effect that the report
and opinion exonerateo Mr. George.
A resolution adopted by the National
Board of Directore saya In part: "it Is
our desire and our request that he con-
tinue aa National director and carry on
the Junior republic work founded by
