meeting of the citlsens for the purpose of
discussing the matter. . -
A mass meeting waa called for April 21
and was attended by the most of Teague's
business men.
Colonel Talt was called upon to address
the meeting. His address waa along the
same line with that of Ms first comrer
sattcn on the subject with the Herald
editor. He 'was enuuisiastlo in his belief
that Teague could brganla a moat sue
cessful ' Chautauqua and gave many
practical reasons for so believing. He
told of his experience In Chautauqua
work and the great good that resulted
from them toommercially and - socially
wherever organised. He said that in
his opinion there we no public under-
taking in which the citlsens could en-
gage that would contribute more to the
commercial and civic welfare of Tea'gue
than a Chautauqua association and that
.they should be satisfied with nothing
bat the best either in point of attrac-
tions or arrangements. No attempt

Chautauqua for financial profit. It high- '

of Texas and the Southwest wtth a as
