We. the undersigned cltliens. qualified
voters nd taxpayers of the city of Hous-

body to grant to the Houston Electric
com panv a franchise for the purpose of
constructing a double track electric street

such other connections on Lamar street
with Fannin Travis Mtlam and Loui-

desirable.
The active retail business of town is
rapidly pushing beyond the street car
service on Main street and some of the
most important business enterprises in
the ctty on Main street are beyond the
street car service.
The town can not be congested and
confined to within a few block and pub-
lic service corporations ought to be re-
quired to meet public necessHies. Ac-
cordingly we respectfully petition for
the extension nf the aoresald line
The Houston Klectrlc company has
aere'd to make the extension for the
benefit of this section of the town only
upon i ondltlon that a satisfactory fran-
chise be granted and that U be paid an
amount agreed upon for the extension
