good reasons therefor puring the past twenty years he has been i rved in con-
stant and faithful service In various capacities as a guardian of the public pea.e.
and In that time he has never been found wanting.
Archie Anderson saw his boyhood days down on the farm In old Mississippi
On moving to Texas he took employment with the Southern Pacific lailroad at
Jlarrisburg where he rendered most efficient service lit war chosen onstab'e
and therewith served as deputy sheriff In 1887 he removed to H-nis'on and wa
riding deputy for a year and eight years deputy sheriff and jailer under Oeutge
Ellis and four years under Albert Erich son. In 1MH he accepted appointment as
deputy marshal under James Pruett. On the occasion of the big jhiI delivery
he was earnestly solicited to ag-aln resume charge of the county Jail to restore pub-
lic confidence. During all of this period aa a deputy he a.s singled ont for the
most difficult and dangerous work and his modest and faithful course nnute him
a favorite with the people for election a city marshal In lSi In the samt year he
was called by appointment to take the shrievalty office made vacant by Sheriff
Erlchson's death. His election 6y an overwhelming majority then confirmed
the confidence of the people in his pre-eminent fitne.su for the place.

ests of law and order In Harris county ate certain to he faithfully shielded and
conserved.
In his administration of official duty Sheriff Anderson has always been clean
even-handed and Just to every citizen regardless of politics or class and Ms
offb e li a model of accuracy in all the detail of both criminal and civil omit
work. His deputies are selected with Scrupulous care as to capability and i--ur-teous
healing to the end that all people having busings wlili the sheriff
office may he assured of respectful and tair treatment. In ttie handling of pris-
oners. Sheriff Anderson manifests me same characteristic regaid for the rights of
others and no complaint has ever arisen from the Harr's o-jnty jail during his
Incumbenc On the contrary prisoners of all degree express their gratitude for
the kind ti.a'ment given them and their friendship tor the sheriff.
The people of Harris county have tak en a rightful pride of the record of Archie
Anderson and have manifested an un swerving confide nee in his qualities as
a man and officer As a type of our best citizenship and a a gallant self-reliant
and level headed guardian of the law. the position of Archie Anderson In public es-
teem has constantly grown stronger year by year His successive elections to the
shrievalty have her n by decided popular majorities and In offering now for re-
election Sheriff Anderson asks only that the people of Harris county take consid-
eration of his record in the public service and the merits of his work
