' Contracts for the construction of
new railroad classification yards on
the north -side-of the turning basin
will be awarded at the next weekly
meeting of the port coinlssioners ac
cording to an announcement made
Friday following tabulation of bids
offered at the meeting Thursday. -
The construction of the new yards
will be financed by the 4IK)0UK) port
bond issue floated last l)ccember and
will cost approximately $121000. The
yards will be about one mile in length
in order to nrouerly serve the new
municipal wharves to be constructed
on the north aide of the basin.
Switches will connect with- the South-
ern Pacific and the Houston. Belt and
Terminal railways.
Bids which were entered Thursday
included unit prices for ' various
classes of labor only as material for
the new yards wil be furnished by tbe
Dort commission it was announced.
According to tabulations made late
Friday on the three bids offered List
