pose of exterminating the boll weevil
baa )ea inaugurated In co-operation
with the plana outlined by tha Texaa
Chamber of Commerce and A. and H.
collate. Every farmer is to be in-
structed n the beat manner of de-
stroying the weevil which" hae cauaed
such great leaaes throughout the State.
By plowing under the cotton atalka and
deatroying all bruah and grass where
the weevils may hibernate It Is ex-
pected that these pests may be kept
dejwB 10 the minimum. It Is planned
to destroy all plants on which the boll
weevil may subalat during the fall
months v thereby lessening the possi-
bility of the weevils existing In large
numbers through the winter season.
Kverr possible avenue for disseminat-
ing: knowledge regarding the necessity
for this campaign is being utilised.
The subject will be discussed in the
county schools and in the higher
grades each pupil will be required to
write an eaaay on the topic. The

Agitators Are Blamed
For Labor's Many Ills

Declaring that strife and bloodshed In
the nation's industrial life have
reached the proportions of a "disgrace
to our whole civilisation" Secretary
Davis of the labor department called
upon labor leaders In an address here
today to help restore industrial rela-
tions to an orderly basis.
The "ultra-red radical" war blamed
by the secretary for much of the vlo
lence which attends clashes between
labor and capital. For Its own preser-
vation he said organized labor must
put a stop to the activities of these
"agitators" and their campaign of
"riot arson and murder.
Mr Davis spoke at the annual con
ventlon of the International Printing
Pressmen and Assistants' union of
North America.

no social engagements with university

ing to an . announcement by ' Miss
Helen . Badenoch president of- the
Womah's Self-government associa-
tion at the Institution. '
"This pledge is taken because we
girls believe that too many dates Ins
tecfere with a college man's athletics
and the school will suffer If the ath-
letes do not have the proper time for
training" explained Miss Badenoch.
With the announcement of the three
"no-date" nights came a statement of
the rules of conduct for co-eds under
the self-government association.
The rules state hours women stu-
dents must observe and give a list of
approved dining placea and clubs ana
specify when co-eds must be chaper-
oned. Lights must be out in all the houses
at 10:30 p m. . Callers may be te-
ceivea between t and s p. m. from
Monday to Thursday and on Friday
Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 10 p.
m. Other rules follow:
- "When leaving the place of residence
In . the evening the destination and
hour of return must always be re-
ported before ' signing out.
j "No college woman or group of
women may go to the city for dinner
except with an escort or chaperon.
"Women are not allowed on the
campus after dusk excepting to visit
the library or other buildings for defin-
ite college purposes.
"Riding In an automobile after t p.
m. is forb'idden excepting with a
chaperon or in groups 'of more than
one couple.
"Freshmen may not go out of Evans-
ton at night without chifperonage sat-
isfactory to the house president ex-
cepting to placea on the' approved list."
