J. A. Whitten one of tbe defend-
ant in tbe first Blue Bird Oil cor-
poration case waa fined $6000 in fed-
eral court Monday afternoon. Tb
fine was assessed after Judge J. C.
Hatefaeaon. Jr. had withdrawn Us
first statement made after Whitten
waa convicted that the accused man
mnst pay a fine of $10000 and spend
.'Ml days in jail or that -be must par
a fine of $1000 and go to the peni-
tentiary for a year and a day.
The court explained that In tbe
light of subsequent events aud because
the government "had pleaded so elo-
quently for other of the defendants''
that bis original decision waa. per-
haps too harsh.
After this statement he fined Whit-
en $7.r00. whereupon Thomas 1). Ball
attorney for the defendant mdf
plea that this amount was excessive.
The jndge was hard to convince but
at last named $6000 with the state-
ment that be would not name a lesser
sum.
Thus in about 15 minutes Ball talk-
ed the court out of $1000 for bis
ciient. $100 a minute.
Whitten agreed to pay halt to
amount at the time and the remainder
in 30 days. This arrangement waa
approved by Judge Hutcheson.
Two of Whitten a co-defendants
were sent to tbe penitentiary.

STOMACH WOULD
BURN SOUR; PUT
LADY IN MISERY
Even Liquids Wouldn't

the Suffering.

"Stomach trouble is the bane of the
eiiatence of millions of people" said
The 1'lant Juice Mao yesterday at th
Court House Pharmacy Congress and
rannin. Houston where he la intro
ducing this surprising new herbal
erable afliction" he continued. "The
xtomacli bloat and swells; awful paina
come in tbe stomach and chest: food
lays like a rock In tbe stomach and
will not digest; often tbe stomach
feels like it Is. on fire; terrible head
aches come together with a nervoua
fidgety feeliug and tbe poor victim
rapidly loses strength and health in
every way. My riant Juice medicine
has produced startling results in
many such esses of stomacb trouble."
Tbia talk by Tbe Plant Juice Man
about stomacb trouble was prompted
by an interview be bad with Mrs.
A. U. Authur well known Houaton
lady living at 407 ilcKmney avenue
who said:
"I bad suffered with my stomaeb
for so long and was in such misery
that I can hardly describe it and I
surely am grateful to your Plant Jules
since it gave me relief. Yes I wa
simply tn miiery every time I ate a
thing for it Just seemed like my food
would not digest. Even liquid food
like soup would put me in distress and
1 was in pain nearly all tbe time at
the pit of my stomach. I bad awful
bloating spells and food would sour on
my stomach and make it burn and I
often had vomiting attacks. Then I
began to have headaches and got rest-
less and nervous and eouldn t sleep.
Many times I had to sit up until 1
o'clock in the morning because of the
gas en my stomach. It would press
up sgainst mj heart so that I couldn't
lie down. I just felt tired out all the
time.
'"Of eour I tried many different
medicines but without results and then
finally I heard of your Plant Juice and
started on it and 1 want to say that
I haven't had a single vomiting attack
since I began taking Plant Juice. In
fact my stomacb has improved so
much that it doe not hurt me in th
least any more. My food digests prop-
erly now: the blosting and as at
tacks are gone and I can go to bed
at night now and sleep soundly. And
I am still improving every day aa I
continue to take Plant Juice and ta
short I surely am grateful to your
Plant Juiee aad reeommend it to
every body who suffers from stomach
trouble for It simply worked wonder
for me."
Tba Plant Juice Man is at the Court
Bern Pharmacy Congreaa and Fan-
nin Heestea. where he I dally meet-
bag tbe local public and introducing
and explaining tbe merits of this rem-
edy. Tree samples given.

There's a lot of difference in merchandising and merely running a jewelry store. When -business gets dull with the depart-
ment stores' they reduce prices to a low figure and stimulate buying thereby holding down their overhead by volume business.
There's no difference between dry goods and jewelry. If buying Can'be stimulated in one line it can in another. So we have
gone through our stock and have selected the finest pieces and have priced them barely above wholesale cost.
Everything in the house is on sale at special prices. Reductions from 15 per cent
up excepting a few items on which there is an established factory price. Remember
whatever your choice is the least you save is 15 per cent and tor some you save as much
as half.
REMEMBER we urge you to buy on credit. The credit price at Corrigan's is always the same as the cash price. We
impress on you the fact that any article bought here at this sale or at any other time mixst give 100 per cent satisfaction or
we insist on having it returned for exchange or full cash refund.
