Interest in" the winter's activities

the Curtain club of the Universitv of
Texas under the direction of Howard
Slumlord Jones will be presented in
Houston on the nithta of Daoembar
27 and 28. Mr. Jones to heed of the
department ef comparative literature
at the University a Writer of note
and possessed of considerable dramatic
experience. .
A member of the Buskin club in bis
heme city in Wisconsin Mr; Jones
later belonged to both the Edwin
Booth Dramatic society and tbs Wit-
eoneia players at the University of
Wisconsin. The latter of these was
one of the pioneer organizations in the
"-little theater'movement" America.
At the University of Wisconsin Mr.
Jones took part in "The Marriage ef
Bobelde" an Austrian playlet: a dra-

Horace Kellen: "Trelawner of the
Wells" by Finero as wen as a formid
able list of other plays. He also
wrote a masaue entitled "The Masaue
ot Msrsn and Hiver" took part in It
himself and directed the production.
When Mr. Jones was at the Uni
versity or unicago ne took part in a
French play produced there and also
in a series of pre-Shakespearean plays
and a number ot pageants.
. -From-Chicago he went to the Uni-
versity of Montana where be was di
rector of the "Masquers" the univer-
sity dramatic club and shortly after
he arrived at the Texaa university he
was asked to fill a similar position
there.
He is the author of a number of
short stories which have appeared in
current magazines and also much
verse published in "Poetry." "Con
temporary Verse" the ''American
Magazine" the Texaa Review and
other periodicals. Much of his poet
ical work baa been gathered together
in tne volume known as Uargojles
and has also been reprinted in such
anthologies as Contemporary Verse'
and "Poets of the Southwest"
He Is one of the Southern poets
who has been invited by Dr. 8. P.
