clubs chambers of commerce and all
other organisations must work to-
gether. The State Toad department
has assisted in furnishing tractors for
the building of these highways and
the Old Spajsh Trail organisation may
be counted on to help to the limit in
furnishing publicity.!- A traffic officer
will be provided after the first of the
year to assist in making the road safe
for traffic.

Army Officer Inspects

NACOGDOCHES Texas Dec. 10.
Capt. O. T. Webster -of the United
States infantry was here last week for
the purpose- of inspecting the local
national guard company. Captain
Webster is very Interested in seeing
the Nacogdoches company enlisted up
to Its full strength with a full corps
of officers which will be 93 enlisted
men and three officers.
During his stay the armory was
moved to the Hall building on East
Main street where regular army equip
ment valued at upward of 130.000 has
been recently placed. Captain TVeb
ster states that If sufficient Interest Is
displayed in tne company to Dring it
up to the standard a target range
will be secured which will be open to
civilian practice civilians Deing ai
lowed to use the army rifles and am
munition under proper supervision.
The local company Is enlisted as Com
pany C 143rd infantry of the 26th

MARLIN Texas. Dec. 10. The gold
medal offered by Dr. August Strelt to
the member of the Marlin High foot-
ball eleven of greatest all-round value
to his team and who displayed the best
sportsmanship during the past season
was awarded to Billy Keeling. The
Judges who made ' the award ' an
nounced through Lee Allen chairman
of the committee that they would also
give a medal to Captain "Cub" Wood
land for the splendid service he has
rendered Marlin High and for - the
magnificent example he has set
team spirit and devotion which will
take place with other treasured trad!

be ready to go into active rehearsals
In the first week in January. Six days
a week will be given to perfecting ti e
Dlavers in the parts. Two nights each
week will be given to each of the plays
to be given for the first bill.' Since
there are three one-act plays to be
presented. Miss Waldo will have an
every-nlght rehearsal to care for dur
ing the three weeks from January 1 to
January 25
As in previous years the plays win
be presented -at the South End Junior
High school auditorium arrangement
for which already have . been made.
The auditorium seats less than 1000
persons and It is felt that each of the
three bills to be presented during the
coming season will be played to ca-
pacity houses.

during tin past term of district court
growing out of the killing of J. P
Owens at the oil field several months
ago haa been rearrested and Is held
pending the suing out of a writ of
habeas corpus In order that a new
bond may be made.
Alien was out under bond at the
time the Indictment waa found but
was not rearrested until last week
when he returned to the Orange oil
field.
