The Rice Institute university extension
lectures of the seventh series which be-
R8n on Monday of this week wilt be con-
tinued with the first of the Wednesday
lectures this afternoon. In the lecture
amphitheater st 4:30 Frederic Thomas
Blanchard assistant professor of English
In the Institute will give the first of a
Belies of three lectures on "Types of Fic-
tion." The series will Include th. follow-
ing subjects: November 15 I "Dickens
and His Predecessors"; November 22 II
"Thackeray's Handling of the Comic-
Epic"; November 29 III -The Gothic
Element in Hawthorne."
All university extension lectures at the
Bice Institute are open to the public
without matriculation fee or any other
form of admission requirement. Etch lec-
ture begins promptly st 4:30 and closes
not later than r 30. Special cars leave
the corner of Fannin street and Eagle
avenue returning from tho second en-
trance of the Institute campus after the
lectures.

In Inviting the teachers of the Houston
schools the Heights schools and the coun-
ty schools to hear Elsie Baker sing The
Post appears to have surpassed Its en
deavor of former years Judging by the
delighted comments made by the teach-
ers who have acknowledged receipt of

known of th. Victor artists and it is safe
to say that her rich contralto voice is
known In nearly every household where
