OKMULGEE Okla. Feb. lfli A new
grand jury panel from which will be se-
lected 12 men to complete- an investiga-
tion into affairs of the defunct Bank of
Commerce here which was terminated
abruptly last Thursday when Superior
Judge II. R. Christopher dismissed a
(rand jury called primarily for that pur-poise-
becauKe he said it had been illegal-
ly cmpaaneled wan drawn here Thursday
'by the sheriff and district court ; clerk.
The panel which is composed of 24 men.
is expected to make a "high class" grand
jiff in the words of County Attorney
James Hepburn who added that many of
the boat "solid citizens" of the county
are included in the list of 24.
The panel was ordered toreport Feb-
ruary 27 to Judge Mark L. Bozarth of
the district court who will empanel the
new jury and the same day launch the
inquiry which will consume approximate-
ly three weeks according to County At-
torney Hepburn.
i Still no word had been received Thurs-
day from Judge Christopher who left
here last Thursday following a demon-
stration protesting agaiitat the discharg-
ing of the jury. He stayed with his wife
and young son at Coyle Okla. until last
Monday and was last seen at Kansas
City Mo. Tuesday morning. Friends
here still are of the belief that he is either
in Chicago his old home or en route
there. ' f
Attorney General Short and Assistant
Attorney General. Zwick were meeting
Thursday with several State bankers
whose advice he solicited in his activities
toward formulating a plan for reorganiza-
tion of the defunct bank.
M. K. & T. Earnings Drop;

earnings of the Missouri Kansas and
Texas in 1022 may be $17000000 less
than in 1921 andherefore rigid economy
must immediately be started in every de-
partment so C. N- Whitehead of St.
Louis chief operating officer of the Mis-
souri Kansas and Texas declared here
Thursday. in the opening address to the
annual staff meeting of executive officers
operating officials and department heads.
About 400 are attending the meeting.
Chairmen of the various railway unions
on the system are in attendance by spe-
cial invitation but wages or working
conditions will not be discussed said
Whitehead. The conference will con-
tinue two days instead of the three orig-
inally planned.
Though economy will be urged every-
where no retrenchment plans will be or-
dered stated the operating 'officer. In
fact he said he hoped soon that' all men
who had recently been laid off will be
called back into service.

ing a special analysis of marital statis-
tics. Eighty-two boys and 499 girls Of
the same age were recorded as widowed
or divorced.
The analysis revealed a distinct in-'
crease during recent years or since the
1910 census in the percentage of mar-1
ried persons for each year of age from
15 to 34 especially among the younger
members of this group. The age group
from 35 to 44 inclusive also showed an
increase in the ratio of married persons
in the decade although less pronounced
especially among the women while the
proportion for persons 45 yeara of age
and older showed a decrease. 1
