HOUSTON DAILY POST: WEDNESDAY MORNING. JUNE 5. 1918.
Gene Moore the sterling southpaw of
the Houston team allowed the Shreveport
Oeaeera two roeaaly singles scattered

With Moore virtually unhittahle. one
run would have won the game with the
same ease aa fir but the Buffaloes
hunched their hits in the third frame

If ever a team showed that It atlll has
the "pep" It waa the Buffs. The teams
play two gamea today beglunlng at J
o clock.
The Houston Buffaloes and the
Shreveport tlaaaers will play two games
at West End thla afternoon beginning at
3 o'clock according to an announce-
ment from Secretary Doak Roberta
which will be the final games played
her for several weeka aa the Houston
team will play the Fort Worth series at
Fort Worth aa per the original schedule
which wss adopted and then ruled out.
Thla according to an agreement w ith the
Fort Worth club. Then the Huffs will
play Dallas at Dallas so If the fans care
to aee the Houston Huffs In action In the
final gajne to be staged here for some
line lis up to them to get busy this
afternoon. As the auctioneer often e min
iates "iroing. going gone!
The sanies which will b played In F.-rt
Worth beginning. Thursday are accord-
ing to the old schedule and 'he old
schedule calls tor Fort Worth to play
hero in Jul) which simply is a return
compliment assuring both cities tha same
number or games.
I'd rv.. i.. win hold an ImDOr
tant meeting In Dallas on June 11. and
the schedule mav auxin be revised to suit
conditions aa the Texas league magnates
have It in their eranliiiiie inai inejr
going to adapt themselves to circum-
atancea whatever the conditlona may bo
and a most severe shakeup may occur
when the league meets. Although there
are rumors of all aorta nothing definite
can be determined until after that league
meet Ins.
Although Houston fans have not pa-
tronised the game as formerly nor shown
the Interest In the national pastime they
formerly evinced. It Is hoped by all hands
thst Houston still will remain In the
league.
However that la a matter for the mag-
nates to thrash out at this next meeting
which will be the most Important confer
ence that has occurred In this league
since (ialvwat.m and Beaumont Ws
dropped from the league and the raco
made a six-team affair.

WARNER WILL HANDLE WALT EVANS
Tennessee Champion Who Grapples "Pet" Brown Friday
Night to Finish Training Under Rudy's Coaching.
Walt Evans the middleweight wrestling
Chatnpion of Tennessee no will meet
Pet Brown In a finish wrestling bout at
taw dty auditorium under the Gulf Cosst
dot) auspices next Friday night has the
right Idea when it comes to getting
pointers on a rival wrestler. Evans has
Wired to Rudy Warner who twice met
Pet here that he will be in town today
anal finish up his training at Warner's
a l latiing school which the latter recently
posed and that any pointers the for-
mer Omaha man may give him anent
Vfs style of w-restUng will be appreciat-
ed by the Tennessean.
Nothing loath. Warner announces that
h will handle Evans and will offer any
aoaawationa that he may be able to help
ecoraplish the Taylor man's defeat.
Warner knows Just the sort of skilled
mat artist Brown is ana Is well qualified
to apeak auid demonstrate some of Pet's
pef holds and grips. Warner alo has
stfvenil tricks up his sleeve whun he
thinks Will go a great way toward beat-
ing fae wily Pet. so that Evans will be
well handled in his crucial clash against
the Taylor marvel.
Evans wired to Dr. E. A. Norton that
he has been training steadily for the past
two weeks and will be ready willing able
and desirous of battling the Taylor marvel
to a finish and avers that he la In condi-
tion to put up the match of hia career.
Considering the fact that Evans has
downed over a half hunared opponents in
the Dast two years it is a certainly that
Wet will have his hands full to say the
least next Iriday night.
According to Dr. Norton the seat sale
has been very' good and the club's inten-
tion of cutting down on the pass evil has
gone a great way toward eliminating
many annoying persons who are prone
to use every' subterfuge to avoid payment.
However it's a matter that la virtually up
to the club.
Wrestlers who come here from great
distances to show for Houston fans work
on a percentage or guarantee. If the per-
centage falls short of the guarantee the'
club must face the deficit and compli-
mentary tickets are about the most use-
less things one can Imagine when it comes
to paying the difference to the wrestlers
in real Uncle Samuel money.

prise competition of the Bender hotel
Tuesday in the second day's shoot of the
forty-fifth annual State trap shooting
tournament. McNeir and Heer dividing
skOBora in the high average for the ama-

' The competition for first place posltlce
among the amateurs w as. to ssy the least
one of the most closely contested affairs
that has been staged in local shooting cir-
cle in many years. President E. F.
Woodward whose work in the Gulfport
Miaa shoot was little ahort of marvelous
waa second beaten by one target. His
total was 190.
George Tucker of Gilmer and Jim Day
of Cuero tied for third honors both
shooters soocing 1SS.
Tha two ties for first place honors
probably waa the feature of the day but
Cbartey 6 pence: of St. Louis hero of
tnany a battle at the traps waa the high
Sua of the day. He Is a professional and
bowed exceptional skill all during the
eat tire program. He totaled 17 out of 200
targets missing but three and also fea-
' tared tha day by making the highest con-
secutive run of the shoot to date 172.
