PURPOSE: The Johnson County Genealogical Society originated in 1984 from the efforts of
the founders to collect as well as preserve genealogical and historical information about the
people of Johnson County. Its purpose is to inform as well as aid members in genealogical
research and to publish records of interest to those seeking their genealogical background.
MEMBERSHIP & DUES: Membership runs yearly from Jan 1 to Dec 31. $15.00 for an
individual or $20.00 for a family membership. A year's membership includes two issues of
Finders Keepers - regardless of the date joined. Dues are payable in January.
MEETINGS: Meetings are held at the Cleburne Public Library, in Cleburne, Texas, at 6:30
p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, except December.

COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS: The Society welcomes letters or email from
members about its publications and activities.
QUERIES: Anyone may submit a query; queries with Johnson County connections are free.
Deadlines are the same as for other contributions. Queries should include dates, places and
full names, if possible. All surnames occurring in the query should be typed in all caps at the
beginning. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). NOTE: Johnson
County Birth and Death records were not kept for Johnson County until 1903.

to the author or contributor. Needed corrections will be made after the editor has been
notified.
ADDRESS CHANGES: When your address changes, please send new address, including 9-
digit zip code, as soon as possible. The post office will not forward your quarterly. If you fail
to notify us of your change of address before the publication is mailed, a charge of $2.50 will
be made to cover the cost of address correction, returning and remailing your quarterlies.
