Miss Falls: “What was the
problem of the last lesson we
observed ?’’
Miss Brally (in low voice! “It
was to see what part England
played in the development of
present day Europe. ’ ’
Miss Falls: ‘ ‘ Beg pardon, but
yon have your hat so far over
your eyes I can not hear you. ”
He: “Did you hear about the
trouble the other day in the
hoarding house kitchen?”
She: “ No whaf was it?”
He: “Two stale beans tried to
get fresh.”
She: “That’s nothing, we have
the same trouble every day. But
instead of two beans, there are
dishes full.

TWO VIEWS
Charley and Henry had just
entered the Southwest, Texas
Normal and settled down to be-
gin their work in. earnest. Hew
should each take * hold on the
surrounding opportunities? Hen-
ry had been reared in a family
that had eared little for strict,
observance of the Sabbath. Al-
though he went t,o Sunday school,
it was because every one else had
been going, it gave him a kind
of a social prestige that he other-
wise would not have had. Charley
was t,he oposite. He was sincere-
ly in sympathy with Sunday
schools and all associations for
the betterment of humanity.
It was hardly fen p. m. when
the two boys had finished their
wrrk and were talking of the
opportunities and social con-
veniences that perhaps mign«,
come to them during the year.
‘ ‘ Charley, ’ ’ said Henry, ' ‘ Did
you attend Sunday school last
year while you were teaching
school at Providence?”
“Yes,” replied the other, “I
attended Sunday school regular-
ly and enjoyed it very much. 1
taught one of the classes and it
afforded me more pleasure than
anything that I have ever done.
I certainly do like Sunday school
work. ”
“I shouldn’t think it would oe
so tiresome teaching in a literary
school all the week and then in
Sunday school on Sunday—you
may rest assured that I will not,
if I teach next year, bind myself
to any Sunday school. I believe
a teacher should spend Sunday
resting. ”
‘ ‘ If you mean by that, that a
teacher should stay at home or
somewhere else rather than go to
Sunday school, I do not agree
with you there. A teacher has
as much time to attend Sunday
school as any one. ”
“Perhaps so but a teacher is
transient. What good could lie
do in a year?”
“That often makes him tran-
sient, If he is lazy on Sunday,
he will be lazy through the week.
Who wants a lazy teacher?”
“I suppose then,” replied Henry,
“that you will join the Sunday
school here?”
“Certainly. I intend to join
the class tomorrow and attend
regularly. 1 am glad to nave
such an opportunity. ”
“I think I shall go tomorrow
hut will not join the class. I
want, to be free while here. ”
“So do I, but I feel free there.
The Y. M. C, A. meets Thursday
—let’s join. There is no asso-
ciation that has a better in-
fluence upon its members.”
“That may be true, but 1 am
not ^ thinking of entering the
ministry or making a foreign
missionary of myself. All I want
is a certificate. When I get
through, I shall then have time
for such stuff. ’ ’
“Did you attend Sunday schorl
at home?” “Yes, but thee I
had to go to have a standing in
the community.”
“That proves to me, then, that
there is some good in it. Docs
it not to you. ’ ’
“Well, I believe yon have me
there,” replied Henry, hut
many of our good citizens do not
attend. ’ ’
“Very truly, but which class
would you wish to select your
companions from? ’ ’
“Charlie, I must say I have no
answer for 'that. I should cer-
tainly select them from the Sun-
day school going people. v m
have fully convinced me of my
wrong, and now I promise .you
that we shall both attend'the
Sunday school and Y. M. C. A.
together. I believe every one
should attend, whether for a
short, time or a long time. ’ ’
_ At, this the boys retired for the
night glad that they were both
now on the right side.
Moral: let every Normal hoy
attend Sunday school and the
Y. M. C. A. throughout the year.
It certainll can’t do yon harm.
It can, without doubt, do you
much good.

Normal student who is teaching
in Bud a this year, visited Normal
friends the past week-end.
