We have all spent one of the
happiest Christmas’ that has
ever been. There is no doubt
that we are all glad to get back
and settle to the duties that
make us teachers. A vacation
does us all good but it is right
hard at times to take up the reg-
ular work without some trouble.
However, if we look at the bright
side of our work w7e may be able
to get a gleam of the brilliant
future that awaits us in the far
distant. In doing this, it will
not only enable us to take up the
teachers problems, but it will
make them much easier learned
and carried. Do this and then
use your influence in keeping
things bright for your despair-
ing mates who think they are
just a little bit homesick.
It would not be a bad sugges-
tion to tell your fellow students
that if they have nothing to do
to keep them from getting home-
sick not to seek the office adjoin-
ing the Registrars window for
refuge. To the new students
that have entered since the an-
nouncement of the Employment
Bureau it would be doing them a
favor to tell them of this new de-
partment of the S. W. T. N.
subscription list—not to the ad-
vertising space!
PROPOSITION—NOTICE!
For every five subsriptions for
The Normal Star at $.50 (fifty
cents) for the remainder of the
school year, any solicitor will re-
ceive one free subscription or
f.50 (fifty cents) in money.
If any solicitor securing as
many as 25 (twenty-five) sub-
scriptions at .50 cents (fifty
cents) will be awarded $3.00
(three dollars) in money and twTo
copies per week of the paper. One
of these copies will be mailed to
any address out of San Marcos
and the other to the solicitor.
These two offers are paying
the solicitor ten cents for every
subsciption that he or she re-
ceives. There should be no stu-
dent in the Normal wTho will not
subscribe for the paper. At the
present there are something over
five hundred and eighty-five and
out of that number only one hun-
dred and fifty-seven are subscrib-
ing- This is evidently a sign
that some who intend becoming
teachers are not even so much as
good citizens.

We have turned over many

out right once more. The prob-
lem for the Star Staff to do is to
start the paper out better. They
can do this by having your as-

made larger and better. For
such a thing to happen, there
