The editors are gratified to know
that the Star is read with so much
eagerness among the students and
town people who are taking it. Some
of the town people report it the
best paper in town. Mr. Evans says
it is the best sclmd ‘Japer that he
knows of and we are sure that he
is right-.
The reason that the Star has
grown to be appreciated so much by
all is ; because the . students are at
work on it. They are handing in a
good amount of literature and take
pains 'with ^ most of what they do
write.
You must remember, though, that
the new editor takes the reins next
week. Do not discourage him by
neglecting the literary department.
Hand in all you can. If it can’t he
used the first time, it may be used
some time. Do not forget.
Y. W. C. A. NOTES.
An effort is being made this year
to have a Travelers’ Aid Secretary
in every railway station of our Tex-
as cities. In addition to these work-
ers, plans are being made to place
posters in all stations, warning young
women traveling alone against accept-
ing advice and assistance from
strangers,, and referring them to the
city Y. M. C. A. as a place to go
on arriving at a city where there is
an Association. Here they can find
reliable information, friends, and the
many privileges a city Association of-
ferrs.
The San Antonio Association is
now occupying a building which j
makes it possibly to open the board- j
ing home department on two upper
floors and enlarge the cafeteria.
Many hundreds of girls enjoy, daily,
the good home cooked meals of the
cafeteria, where the> average cost per
meal for the past year has been sev-
enteen cents.
It is remarkable to see what splen-
did work is being done in Y. VV. C.
A. work by the students of the State
school for .the Blind. They conduct
their meetings regularly, and great
interest is always manifested at each
one of the meetings.
The El Paso Association has built j
a boarding home. Besides this, their
work is being carried on in town,
where they have a very attractive
lunch room.
It is interesting to know the work
that is being done in Fort Worth.
Every Wednesday the Secretary
takes a minister to give a gospel
messr^e to the girls who are work-
ing in the overalls factory.
When it comes to style and price,
Adams sets the pace.
