FOR
FROTH
It was the sixth period of a sultry
day. Room 23 was crowded, and the
temperature was high and rising. Mr.
Thomas was seeking to alleviate partly
the distressing thermal conditions, by
seating several students in chairs near
his desk at the front. “Yu wil find that
tne front seats ar cooler than those in
the far corners,” he said, “in spite of
the fact that the ‘radiator” (meaning
himself) is in this end of the room.
This ‘radiator’ is like one of those
patent heaters 3011 see advertized in
scool journals, in which a current of
cool air coming in constantly from the
outside is warmd a little before it cir-
culates thru the room.”
Hutto:—(taking a front seat; very
agreeably) Yes, sir; it is surprizingly
cool up here.”

Minister :—(exemplifying the theory
of emfasis in composition, by repeating
his text several times) Now Absalom
had reard up for himself a pillow; for
lie said, I hav no son to keep my name
in remembrance.
Sleepy Student:—(at the fifth repeti-
tion ; trying to keep awake) Lucky Ab-
salom ! Wonder if he brought it with
him.

Mr. Brown :—(Math. 208) What is
the locus of a point equidistant from
three planes drawn thru a point?
Pupil:—(in disperation) Couldn’t it
be a circle?
Mr. Brown:—(emfatically) Not in
Texas.
