A good way to show the foot-
ball team that you appreciated
the good record made by them
this season, to show them that
you were one of their support-
ers, a good way to show them
that you are proud of the honor
and glory that they brought
old S. W. T. N. is to be at the
Minstrel next Monday night.
This is the first time that you
as a member of the student
body have had an opportunity
to really show the boys that
you are proud of them, and are
willing to do something in re-
turn for what they did. If you
are really and truly glad that
Normal won the City Cham-
pionship you will be at the
Minstrel next Monday.

In one of the Literary Socie-
ties last Monday morning one
of the very vital questions of
Normal life was discussed, i. e ,
whether Normal boys should be
permitted to go with Normal
girls as often as they wish. The
concensus of opinion seemed
to be that they should. This
opinion came from a fair rep-
resentation of the student body
as there were about forty-five
men and about forty-five
women present with represen-
tatives of the faculty also being
there. This is a vital question
and one to be seriously con-
sidered in the near future. Of
course, The Star is not advo-
cating the carrying out of this
plan at present, though we do
believe that the student body
favors it.
With this issue of The Star
closes the first term and alsj
ends the tenure of the first staff
that The Star has had this year.
This term has been a pleasant
one for the staff and through
the columns of The Star we
wish to thank the student body
for the cheerful and pleasant
way in which all who have been
asked to contribute to these
columns have responded. We
feel that if The Star has in any
way been a success this term it
is not due to the editorial staff
but to the entire school for it
is they that have made The
Star what it ^s and to them Is
due all the credit for any good
The Star has accomplished.

The first term is practically
over and the 1917 Pedagogue
staff lias not been elected yet.
Owing to the fact that the
editors and managers could do
a great amount of work during
the holidays it is a serious
handicap to the success of the
annual that they have not al-
ready been elected. Let us
wake up. We have certainly
had enough time to make a
study of the talent that is
about us, and any election of
staff should be done wisely and
fittingly. S. W. T. N. put out
an unusual volume last year,
but with the enthusiastic talent
in the school this year, we can
get out a Pedagogue this year
that will surnass any annual \
in the past—if we make haste
and organize.

Phil McGehee alias “The
Doctor” has been elected as
captain of the 1917-18 football
team. The men are to be com-
mended on their choice in
selecting as Captain Chapman s
successor one so capable, one
so efficient, and one so popular
as McGehee, “The Doctor”
has been a star tackle for Nor-
mal for the last two seasons
and we feel certain that a
better choice could have never
been made. Under the leader-
ship of Captain McGehee we
already see a victorious foot-
ball team for 1917—Doctor
McGehee arise and receive our
blessings.
