attended graduation exercises
of their granddaughter, Valori
Sheppard from Irwin High
School, El Paso. Valori re-
turned to Big Lake with the
Youngs for a summer visit
and was joined this week by
her mother, Mrs. Shirley
Sheppard and brothers, David
and Dana.

Mrs. C. J. Duesing
Services for Mrs.C.J. Duesing,
86, of St. Louis, Mo., mother
of Raphael L. Duesing of Big
Lake, were held May 30 in
Olney, 111. where a Com-
memorative Mass was celebra-
ted. Interment was in Saints
Peter and Paul Cemetery in
St. Louis on May 31.
Mrs. Duesing died May 29
in an Olney, 111. hospital.She
had been in an Olney nursing
home previous to that time.
Mrs. Duesing. the former
Emilie Fischbach. was born
October 15, 1885 in Ingweiller,
Alsace. France. She came to
the United States in 1903 and
was married to the late Charles
J. Duesing April 3, 1904 in
Kansas City. Mo. They es-
tablished their home in St.
Louis. Mr. Duesing died in
August 1964. She was also
preceded in death by a son.
Charles H. Duesing. who died
in January 1955.
Survivors include four sons. „
Bert F. Duesing. St.Louis. Mo.;
Rev. Father David John Duesing.
Calf Roping Set

Mrs. Ledlow's Kin Services Held For
Dies In Lubbock Mrs. i. B. Ratliff
Phillip Schneemann left Wed-
nescay for Abilene where he
attends a tennis training school
for a week, conducted at Abil-
ene Christian College. Laurie
Schneemann is spending two
weeks at Prude Ranch near Fort
Davis.
Mrs. Elna Hollaway of Fort
Worth has been visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Rutledge. She
left Wednesday enroute to El
Paso to visit their parents.
St. Meinrad. Ind.; Rev.Lucien
Phillip Duesing, Olney, 111. ;and
Raphael L. Duesing, Big Lake,
one daughter, Sister Mary
Gertrude Duesing, OSC. Evans-
ville. Ind.; and nine grand-
children.
Stanley E. Clackum, 61,
brother of Mrs. Aletta Ledlow
of Big Lake, died at noon Sun-
day in a Lubbock hospital.
Services were held Tuesday
at 11 a.m.in Pallapoosa, Geo-
rgia, at the First Assembly of
God Church. Burial was in
Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Clackum was born May
2, 1911 in Pallapoosa, Ga. He
was married to Mabel Stephens
Jan. 26, 1935 in Buchanan, Ga.
He had been a resident of Big
Spring since June 1956, moving
there from Kermit. He was
employed by the Oil Transport
Co. for 16 years. He was a
member of the Transportation
Employes Union, First Assem-
bly of God Church and the
Staked Plains Lodge No. 593,
AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife;
two sons. Wayne Clackum of
North Augusta, S.C.and Billy
Clackum of Big Spring; a
daughter. Mrs. Marie Wil-
liams of Marion, N. C.; two
brothers. Howard Clackum
of Anniston. Ala. and Glenn
Clackum of Cherry Hill, N.J.;
two sisters Mrs. Evie Pointer
of Cross Plains and Mrs. Aletta
Ledlow of Big Lake, and four
grandchildren.
Mrs. Woodrow Munn and En-
rico Malacorne, an exchange
student from Livorno. Italy,
were Big Lake visitors over the
weekend. They were houseguest
of Mr.and Mrs. C. S. Bryant and
attended the Texon Reunion.
They plan to go on to San An-
gelo where they visit relatives
there and in Water Valley,
then drive on to Marlin to see
Mrs.Munn’s elderly aunt, Mrs.
Burleson who has been a fre-
quent visitor to Big Lake in
past years.
Enrico has been attending
high school in Artesia, New
Mexico, living with Mrs. Munn
and the late Woodrow Munn.
He graduated this year and re-
turns to Italy July 5. where he
has another year of study be-
fore entering work at a univer-
sity.
Services forMrs.J.B. (May)
Ratliff, 81. of Garden City,
were held at 3 00 p.m. Wed-
nesday in the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church in Garden
City. Burial was in the Garden
City Cemetery.
Mrs. Ratliff died at her home
in Garden City at 7:30 p.m.
Monday. She had been a resi-
dent of Glasscock County more
than 60 years. She was the
mother of Lester Ratliff of
Texon, Reagan County rancher
and county commissioner.
She was born December 13,
1890, and moved to Sterling
County in 1906 with her par-
ents, Mr.and Mrs. Sam R.
Cox, who helped found the
Presbyterian church there.
Shortly thereafter, they moved
to Glasscock County. She was
married Oct. 4, 1914 to J.B.
Ratliff in Garden City. She
was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include her hus-
band; two daughters, Mrs.
Clyde Roberta) Reynolds of
Garden City and Mrs. Richard
Juanita) Johnson of Clovis,
N.M.; two sons, Lester
Ratliff of Texon and Derwood
Ratliff of Midland; three sis-
ters, Mrs. Kitty Lemmons
and Mrs. Doll Long, both of
Garden City and Mrs. James
^ Dimple) Currie of Midland;
Tour brothers, P.A. Cox of
Eastland. John H. Cox and
J.W. Cox, both of Garden
City and Lee Cox of Levita,
Colo.; 10 grandchildren and
seven great-grandcliildren.
Trial Set Here
For June 26
At a hearing held here last
Thursday in 83rd District Court,
Judge C.E. Patterson set the
trial of James O. Turner for
June 26th. Turner has been in-
dicted for rape, by a Reagan
County Grand Jury.
A motion for a change of
venue was denied. The trial
had previously been transferred
to Fort Stockton on a change
of venue, but had been changed
back here because of a techni-
cality for a pre-trial hearing.
