The Lewisville City Council on Monday is
scheduled to take up the issue of whether it’s
appropriate for the municipal library to carry a
copy of Out magazine, the glossy gay and les-
bian monthly. A group of fundamentalist citi-
zens contends the publication is obscene and
wants it segregated in an “adults only” section.

Virginia Apuzzo became the federal govern-
ment’s highest-ranking openly gay official this
week after the White House announced her
appointment as an assistant to President
Clinton. Apuzzo will manage the administration
of the White House complex and operations of
the executive office.
