peaied in the morning paperin
which he announces himself for
the democratic nomination for
the presidency He extols Mor
rison and says that he believes
with such a man as he tiie dem-
ocracy can win in the next
election He puts the Cleve-
land third term idea to one side
as not a serious matter and in
expressing himself in this way
he shows that he is going home
to be explicit as to his views
There nrver was anything in
the tliiid term business and
Mr Mills seems to understand
this though he goes on to ar-
gue It to a certain extent I am
informed though Mr Mills did
not so inform me that he will
when he gets home be ready
to respond to any call that may-
be made on him for a further
elaboration of his ideas as ex
pressed in his letter to Dudley
and to explain what he means
by saying that while he be-
lieves that free silver would be
bad for the country still he
would be willing to indorse it
if tho next state democratic
convention made it the tocsin
of the party which he repre-
sents in the senate
