Brownsville Normal Classlicld their
regular meeting at tho residence of
Mrs Cummings The lesson for this
mooting was on physiology and Dr
F J Combe by special request of
the class gave them a very interest-
ing talk The young doctors stylo
of presenting tho subject was vory
plain and clear and will prove very
helpful to the class in their work
Besides Mrs Cummings Jamily
several of their friends wero present
to hear tho talk
Aftor the conclusion of the reg-
ular work a sumptuous lunch was
served which was hospitably pro-
vided by Mesdames Cummings and
Seibert Tho conversation was
sprightly and many laughable jests
wero exchanged during tho lunch
The afternoon will long be remem
bered by tho class Such interest as
their amiable hostetsas tako in their
work is very encouraging
MEMORIAL SERVICES
The services at the Episcopa
Church yosterday morning were
commemorative of tho death of Rev
Wm Passmoro the first rector of this
parish whose death occurred at
Hamilton New Jersey on the 9th
instant The altar and chancel rail
ing were draped with crape and the
service was quite impressive The
sermon by tho roclor Mr Portmess
was very interesting the subject
being lovo for the Church Inciden-
tally he spoke of the early ministra-
tions of Mr Passmore who spent
nine years in Brownsville laboring
to upbuild the infant parish of the
Advent mentioning tho loving tes-
timony of tho few older members ot
the church who still remember the
deceased minister and his interest-
ing family The music by the choir
was unusually fine Mr McMinn of
San Antonio sang a beautiful solo
with violin obligato played by Mr
Geo Krausso
