Saturday night, the Sinton Pir-
rates took the consolation trophy by
defeating Gregory-Portland 42 to
32 on the margin of a first quarter
spurt which gave the Pirates a
14 to 4 lead.
A fourth-quarter rally in which
they scored 16 points while hold-
ing Taft to 5 points was the mar-
gin of the Woodsboro Eagles 58
to 50 victory over the Greyhounds
for third place honors and a tro-
phy.
In the championship game the
Bobcats found themselves having
to play “catch-up” from the first
quarter after jumping into an op-
ening lead. In an officiating-slow-
ed game, the Bobcats were unable
to hit the basket consistently from
the field or the foul line as the
Aransas Pass Panthers hustled
continually to grab the title.

be given to the five boys and girls
chosen on the All-Tournament
teams.
This year’s field appears strong
with Edna, Aransas County, Gana-
do and Bloomington looming as
strong contenders to wrest the title
from the Austwell-Tivoli Redfish,
who won last year’s tournament
handily and were defeated in the
1962 finals in an overtime period.
Bloomington’s Red Conner is the
only all-tournament payer in the
boys division eligible to return. It
is extremely doubtful if Red will
compete, however, as he re-injured
his knee in the finals of the Bloom-
ington tournament last Saturday.
All-tournament returnees in the
girls division are Linda Maresh,
Austwell-Tivoli’s jump - shooting
forward, who is packing a 28-point
per game average; Cathy Benge,
Austwell-Tivoli’s fine guard; and
Bloomington’s Linda Linville.

Rubber Snubber
Here’s how to keep bait-casting
reels free from snarls and tangles
when transporting or storing them:
Cut a strip of rubber out of an I
old inner tube. Then cut a hole in |
each end. Slip one end over the
rod butt or the reel seat; the other1
end over the reel handle.
Tension holds everything in
place. j
