PIKES WIN
The PiKAs opened their volleyball
season right, Thursday night., with
a win over the Kappa Alphas, The
set went to the third game, though,
before the Pikes came out on top,
15-9.
The Pikes riddles the KAs in the
first game 15-2. The second game
was played by the Pike reserves,
who promptly got. slammed, 3-15.
In the final game, the Pikes were
dominant all the way, paced by the

Even though, I do feel that in
the editorial columns o f The
MEGAPHONE you do have a tend- (
ency to become a stuffed-shirt and
feel a bit like Moses leading his
people out of some deep morass, I
L believe that this semester’s
MEGAPHONE is the most effective
paper that we have had on the
campus in the past three years.
Therefore. you are to be
commended.

To the Editor,
1 do not see the need of an
advisory committee to the Senate
made up of a member from each
social organization. The Senate
through senatorial representation is
Whirling round and round the earth
While the Russians roar with mirth
A moon that’s out day or night
That beep,beep, beeping satellite.
But does it beam, this new moon?
Can it ryhme with June or spobn?
Does its beep really carry
To that old pituitary?
What’s it do for lovers’ plight, life?
Let them have their moon ot metal,
Like a rose without a petal;
Spheroid devoid of a man-in
' Too small anyhow for one to
stand in).
What is a moon without moonlight?
Naught but a beeping satellite.
So let your love steal a kiss. Miss,
To the sound of a sweet, beep,
beep-hiss.
And be a knave, Knave, be a
knave
At the bleat of the microwave-
Dance? I’d love to^but not toniglit-
Not to the beep of a satellite.
R. Manning.
BARBS WIN
The Independents took their sec-
ond victory of the season Thursday
night, as they won the first two
games of the set, 15-8 and 15-6.
The Independents weren’t nearly
as fired up as they were for Tues-
day’s Sig game and didn’t show
their poised team play they are
capable of. The Phis were never a
threat, though, and the Independent
alternate team finished out the
second game.
already made up of people from
social organizations. Student govern-
ment in this school needs changes
and new ideas to become more
efficient. It appears to me that
steps in this direction have already
been taken; but I feel that this
social organization committee would
be a slowing up or backward step.
Not every college has the coop-
eration in their social organization
relationship as we have, as proven
by the variety shows. Working to-
gether on these over-all student
projects is good; but an advisory
committee, I feel, would be a quick
way of ending this fine relationship.
The committee’s purposes could
in the future very easily be limited
to a means of trying to aid parti-
cular organizations to selfish means
without the whole student body in
consideration. Divisions of voting
power on issues could cause a lot
of ill feeling.
Let’s leave the social organiza-
tions social.
Sincerely yours,
Donald D. Higbee
