APRIL 25th to MAY 2nd
It is our pleasure to announce that on the above dates we will present for your ap-
proval the greatest collection of men’s trousers for spring we have ever shown.
These are the famous Marx Made Trousers. They are known all over America.
Many of the patterns are exclusive; the fit and style cannot be surpassed and the
workmanship has for years been recognized as the best obtainable. :: ::
■
First, the Marx & Haas Clothing Company, of St.
Louis, who make this famous brand of trousers have a
special patented device used to notch the cloth so that
the tailors in sewing the seams can match each leg per-
fectly and avoid any chance of making mistakes. This
assures a perfect hang to the trousers.
Second the inside linings always match the fabric
both in color and design. It’s just a small matter but
will serve to show the carefulness of the house in even
these little details.
Third, all stripes are matched so that they absolutely
follow the crease both back and front, an art that re-
quires expert tailoring. If the stripes don’t follow the
crease the trouser is not perfect. Note this point when
you come in to look at MARX-MADE Trousers.
Fourth, the buttons won’t come off—because each
button is secured with thirty-two separate and distinct
stitches and then the ends are tied underneath in a double
knot. There are no loose threads and the buttons stay on.
Fifth, MARX-MADE Trousers are made with a three
inch turn-up— this guarantees a perfect drop over the
shoe and helps materially in the hang of the trouser.
Sixth, And then in addition to all this, you will find
the “Wunder Waist-Band” on every pair of MARX-
MADE Trousers. This patented device, which is found
on no other trouser, holds the belt in its proper place.
It does away with unsightly torn belt loops. It makes
the trouser fit perfectly at the hip, a most desirable
feature. Many men who in the past have found it in-
convenient to wear belts will find great satisfaction in
the ‘‘Wunder Waist-Band.”
COME IN AND SEE US
Other articles in furnishings, too, are here awaiting your inspection. We feel that our efforts this season
to present the newest and best for the money have been handsomely rewarded. The lines we are showing
in themselves the best evidence of how well we have succeeded.

The Backbone ol Winter.
The backbone of winter is
tricky and mean, it puts us too
oft in despondency’s trough; for
just when the symptoms of
springtime are seen, it puts on
clamps, and the stuff is all off.
i For weeks it will languish and
Uead us to think winter is over
P?nd done with for keeps, and
then it indulges in spasm and
kink, and man is kept busy
a-shedding the weeps. When man
doffs his flannels and covers his
frame with light under clothing
and buys a straw hat, the back-
bone of winter takes chips in the
game, and sends him pneumonia
or something like that. The rob-
ins get fooled just as much as
the man, and white they are
warbling away, the backbone of
winter gets playful again, and
freezes the dodgasted birds
where they stand. The hens
start to lay in a generous mood,
so people can purchase some eggs
at the store, and then the old
backbone, unlady like, rude, just
gives them cold feet, and they
cackle no more. If winter in sea-
son has hooted and screeched, its
highly improper a protest to
bring; but, hang the old back-
bone! It should be impeached for
raising a fuss when we’re ready
for spring!—Walt Mason.
It is testimony like the follow-
ing that has placed Doan’s Kid-
ney Pills so far above competitors.
When people right here at home
raise their voice in praise there
is no room left for doubt. Read
the public statement of a Honey
Grove citizen.
Charles L. Bray, blacksmith,
Honey Grove, Tex^s, says: ‘‘For
about a year I had pain in my
kidneys and the kidney secretions
were scanty and distresing in
passage. At last I sent to Black
& Little’s drug store for a kidney
medicine and was given a box of
Doan’s Kidney Pills, being told
that they were highly recom-
mended. I used them and they
removed the trouble. I gladly
confirm my former statement,
praising Doan’s Kidney Pills.”

The Ownership of Our
Railroads.
There is a very general preju-
dice in the minds of many peo-
ple against the railroads because
it is supposed that they are own-
ed by a few rich men or families.
This is a very great mistake. The
people are the real owners of the
stocks and bonds of the railroads.
The Pennsylvania railroad is
unquestionably one of the great-
est and most valuable railway
systems in the world. Its presi-
dent has recently stated that
there are nearly 100,000 stock-
holders in that great system,
while its bondholders will prob-
ably reach twice that number. It
is easy, therefore, to see that the
income of a large number of fam-
ilies is dependent upon that
great system.— Christian-Evam
