Police blotter
"Police blotter” it a summary of the previous week’s activity by the Port
Aransas Police Dept. For practical reasons of tune and space, the “blotter”
does not include every call made to police officers, nor does it include routine
security checks, minor traffic stops or accidents. Incidents of major impact
will be reported separately. Because the police department’s day runs from
8 a. m. until 7:59 a.m. the next day, the dates on reports are not always correct.
Port Aransas' unusual weather during the week caused numerous alarms
to go off, however, most of the calls were false.

Both are presumed dead.
The first incident was reported
by the Sheriff’s Office in Rockport
on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 7:55 p m
Casto said Thomas Edward Mills.

Ingleside. and his wife were in a
boat off of Rattlesnake Point in
Copano Bay when their craft went
dead in the water.
Somehow the plug was kicked out
and the boat started taking on wa
ter. Mills was last seen swimming
toward the visible shoreline without
a life jacket
A Good Samaritan picked the wife
out ol tlie water
In the second incident. Jack
Kirsch, 50, either fell or jumped
from the Martin Explorer, which was,
pushing a tow out through the jet-
ties.
Kirsch disappeared from the
Martin Explorer some where between
the jetties and 28 miles offshore,
said Quartermaster First Class Joe
Bynum, who is stationed at Coast *
Guard Group Corpus C'hristi
\
I he captain ot the boat told Coast
Guard officials that the last time he
had seen Kirsch was at 1:30 a.m
and it was nearly two hours later
when it was discovered he was miss-
ing.
It is not known if Kirsch was wear
mg a lifejacket.
The men’s bodies are likely still
submerged because of the cool wa •
ter since bodies stay down longer at *
the lower temperatures than they
do m warmer water, Casio said
