SPJST REST HOME, TAYLOR, TEXAS
In 1956 the delegates of ťhe XVII Con-
vention of the SPJST in Temple, Texas,
donated $100,000.00 for the erection of
a rest home. The rest home started oper-
átům in November, 1957. In 1962 a new
wing was added to the rest home and
with the approval of the State Depart-
ment of Public Welfare it qualified as a
nursing home. The capacity of the rest
home is 54 beds, and is composed of
three wings, consisting of a lobby, dining
room, kitchen, recreation room, several
single and double rooms, a sun porch,
and utility room. The building is heated
and cooled with year-round air condi-
tioning.
The rest home performs humanitarian
Services, and is staffed with faithful and
efficient employees who háve the wel-
fare of the guests at heart. The guests
háve companionship and may také part
in various forms of recreation. They do
not suffer from solitude.
The SPJST Rest Home is modem in
every respect and has been ušed as a
model by the State Health Department.
The present Board of Directors is com-
posed of Henry Schovajsa, La Grange,
Texas; Edwin Kovar, Taylor, Texas;
Cyril (Sid) Pokladník, Dallas, Texas;
Fred Kveton, Abemathy, Texas; J. M.
Skrabanek, Bellaire, Texas; E. P. Sralla,
Edna, Texas; and H. W. Marcak, Kenedy,
Texas; Rudolph Troubil, Manager. (Re-
