Our monthly meeting that was to
be held August 2nd will be postponed
and held August 9th, because of Youth
Activity Day for the 5th District that
will be held at Lodge No. 88.

LODGE NO. 88, HOUSTON
Dear Friends,
Lodge No, 88 had a well-attended
meeting, called to order by President
Tim Kostom. James .Hightower, one
of the new members, was present and
will be initiated with other new mem-
bers in the near future. Welcome,
James, we are happy to háve you in
our lodge! James is becoming an ac-
tive member and attends most of our
dances.
Secretary F. A. Kadlecek asked Presi-
dent of the Birthday Club Estelle Kelly
to come to the front and surprised
her by presenting her with a check for
the Club from Brother Louis Hanuš.

Estelle, in her gracious manner,
thanked him and sald the Birthday
Sisters appreciated it very much. She
mentioned the Sisters always needed
help on kolache baking days, and gave
speciál thanks to First Vice President
Ed Kadlecek for helping them so much
on the last baking day!
Youth Director Clemence Courtney
told about the District Youth Activity
and Talent Contest to be hekl on Sun-
day, August 2nd. She also told about
the Youth Club enjoying a picnic at
the Huntsville State Park. Brother Er-
nest Hanka told more about the Youth
Day; it will be held at Lodge No. 88.
A barbecue dinner will be served,
starting at 11 a.m, and served through-
out the day and evening. The District
Talent Contest will start at 2 p.m., and
will be followed by a dance. So be
sure to mark Sunday, August 2nd, on
you>r calendar and make plans for a
day of enjoyment at Lodge 88. I arn
sure you háve heard what good bar-
becued beef Lodge 88 had when they
presented the Czech play; you can
expect the same delicious barbecue on
August 2nd!
The chairman of the Entertainment
Committee told ahout plans for the
Grand Opening of our new halí. He
asked the members to work hard in
selling the donation books. We háve
such wonderful prizes to be given
away at our “Grand Opening” — such
as color TV, stereo Hi-Fi, Philco dryer,
$200 cash, $100 bonds and other bonds
and casi' prizes!
Our delegates to the State Conven-
tion gave us interesting reports on
the convention. Delegates Alfred Hil-
sher, Louis Hanuš, Ernest .Hanka, Jar-
da Cerny, Jerry Ermis, Ed Kadlecek,
F. A. Kadlecek, Tim Kostom, Lillian
Kruše, and Rudy Sefeik told us how
much they enjoyed the convention and
that much was accomplished.
Our new District V Director, Ernest
Hanka, who also was Secretary at the
Convention, received a big hand as did
the parents of our Miss SPJST, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Machami of Pasadena.
Congratulations.to these fine members,
and also to Sister Lillian Kruše, who
is a member of the State Youth Com-
mittee, and Brother Frank Olexa, who
is on the State Management Analysis
Committee.
Brother Hanka gave us some more
names of workers at the new plače,
and they are Herman Baethe, Joe Elz-
ner, Joe Fusig, Milton Kalousek, and
Johnny Mikoláš; these good brotheťs
help whenever they are asked.
Our European travelers. Margaret
Rice and Rosa Lee Ruland are back;
it surely was good to see them at our
meeting, because we háve been missing
them!
“Happy Birthday” was sung to Sis-
ters Annie Baethe, Louise Kadlecek,
Lowrina Lindemann, Evelyn Mikeska,
Evelyn Mikoláš, Rosa Lee Ruland, An-
nie Švestka, and Annie Vrla and
Brothers Steplien Kelly, John Kad-
lecek, E. J. Kadlecek Jr., and Otto
Mikeska. After the meeting delicious
refreshmcnts were served, and our
thanks go to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Linde-
mann, who furnished the beverages.
Dorťt forget the Lodge 88 dances. We
are giving dooř prizes at each dance.
The prizes at our Ed Zálesák dance on
July 4th were donated by Harley Cox,
Lillian Kruše, and Oscar Helmcamp,
and were won by Wilma Janacek, Al-
bert Krajca, and Mrs. E. J. Zálesák.
The prizes at the Jimmie Brosch dance
on July llth were given by Itasca
Cerny, Ruby Černošek, and Pearl
Hanka, and were won by Mildred
Bworsky, Lawrence Dornak, and Ear-
line Hoffman.
We had a wonderful erowd at the
Jimmy Brosch dance! Now this S!at-
urday, July 25th, we háve the ex~
ccllent Henry Brosch Orchestra of
Moulton. Come and bring your friends;
we think you will enjoy the goo.d music
and you might get a prize, too!

LODGE NO. 48, BEYERSVILLE
Dear Members,
Our re.gular monthly meeting was
held on July 5th at 2 p.m. The meet-
ing was- called to order by our presi-
dent, and the minutes were read by
our secretary, and approved as read.
Our delegáte, Brother Willie Hejl,
gave a report on the convention held
in Waco.
The members had a discussion on
our fall picnic, which will be held
sometime in October. Members, please
think about it. Do you want an all-
day affair or just in the afternoon
and night? Come to our next monthly
meeting and give us your opinión.
Bro. Frank Hejl of Lodge No. 29 was
a visitor at our meeting. We enjoyed
having him with us. Come again. The
name of Daniel Svoboda, Jr., of Vic-
toria, was drawn for the dooř prize. He
was not present so the dooř prize will
be carried over to our next meeting
and another dollar will be added.
