izing in environmental control,
was named “smáli businessman of
the year” by tlie Dallas District
of the Smáli Business Administra-
tion last year. He becomes the 19th
president in the history of the 20-
year-old organization.

Vine Matula, 69, passed away
suddenly on Monday morning,
March 17th. Brother Matula was a
long-time member of Lodge 87,
Temple, and had been a partner in
the drug store business of “V&M
Drugs” in Temple for a good many
years.

Joe N. Morris, 86, is a patient in
Huth Memoriál Hospital in Yoak-
úm. Brother Morris is a long-time
member of Lodge 63, Sweet Home,
and in his younger days was a very
active sales representative. He is
also an uncle to SL President
Brother Nick A. Morris.

Mrs. Joseph Frank Kolacny, 81,
passed away in Renger Memoriál
Hospital in Hallettsville on Sun-
day, March 9th. Funeral Services
were held from the Kuběna Fu-
neral Home and St. Mary’s Catholic
Church in Hallettsville on March
llth, with burial in St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery. Sister Kolacny
was a member of Lodge No. 4,
Hallettsville.

A VISIT T(> LODGE 155, AUSTIN
On Sunday, March the 9th, a
speciál meeting and discussion
were held with the officers and
membership of Lodge 155, Austin,
coneerning progress in that lodge
and the possibility of constructing
a new lodge home. The meeting
was held in the home of President
Liliie Hejl on Shoalmont Dr., with
a nice attendance.
The meeting was attended by
SL President Nick A. Morris, Dis-
trict II Director Henry Vitek, Dis-
trict II SR Lad Zatopek, and Hon-
oráry President Eduard L. Marek,
all with spouses. After a brief
business meeting, during which
the minutes of the organizational
jneeting of the lodge fořty years
ago and the current minutes were
read, Brothers Morris and Vitek
talked about the advantages of a
new lodge home and the mechanice
of applying for a loan from the^
Supreme Lodge. Brother Marek re-
minisced about the organizational
meeting of fořty years ago, which
he attended, and recalled: some of
the fine members who háve rtow
gone on to their eternal reward.

In his remarks to the members,
Brother Morris explained and
brought out statistice on those
lodges having new or attractive
lodge facilities and the manner in
which these facilities attracted
both present and new members,
and that a large part of the growth
in the SPJST was taking plače in
those lodges having nice lodge
homes. He displayed posters and
exhibits of some* of the lodges who
háve built new lodge homes in re-
cent months and years, citing ap-
propriate statistics regarding the
