District 2 Youth Achievement Day
A large number of SPJST District 2 fulfill the ileed for a statewide SPJfí'1
members, their familíes, friends, and
višitors gathered at the Holland SPJST
Halí on Stmday, October 20, to celebrate
the District 2 Achievement Day. In ad-
dition to the members from nlne lodges
in District 2, many officials of the SPJST
and other organizations and visitors
from two other districts were present.
A Comiplete report on the attendance at
the meeting will be included in the pub-
li&héd minutes of the meeting.
Holland Tyrš Lodge 80 President Joe
Jakubec welcomed everyone to Holland
and Distreit 2 Puesident F. E. Hejl, Jr.
presided. Highlight of the morning busi-
ness'session was finál adoption of the
District 2 By-Laws. Director Charlie
Navhatil gave his report on insurance
sales in District 2 and on the progress
of the SPJST Rest Home. Brother Na-
Youth Program. Pie stated that the Sin
přeme Lodge has passed a resolution ad
a start and that the Insurance Com-
mitt.ee is working out the details oi
such a program which will be adminis-
tered by the Supreme Lodge Vice Presi-
dent who is atso the Youth Organizer.
He said that further detaiis of this pian
would be forthcoming and that it would
be a very important matter for the loeaf
lodges to carefully select youth direc*
tors who could and would carry out the
program.
The talent contest was a fine display
of musical and theatrieal talent by the

Ralph Milek with his fine accordian ren-
dition of the “Tinker Polka.” Senior

craft Contest; and District Treasurer
Henry Vítek gave a financial report.
During the noon hor, a delicious din-
ner was served by the host lodge broth-
ers and sisters and all those present
enjoyed viewing the handicraft exhibits
and visiting with one-another.
The afternoon session, which was ded-
icated to the achievement of District 2
Youth opened with a talk by District 2
Youth Director, Clara Hejl. She gave a
reyiew of the4" youth work in the dis-
trict and in her home Lodge 47 at Sea-
ton. She outlined and explained her pro-
posed yearly program of youth activi-
ties which was well received by those
present from this and other districts. In
closing, Sister Hejl emphasized the need
for guidance and assistance from the
SPJST Supreme Lodge in efťectively
earrying on a eontinuous and long range
program of youth work.
SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice-President
Joe B. Hejny, the scheduled speaker for
the meeting, was ilí, arid Supreme Lodge
President Edward L. Marek spoke in his
stead on the subject of “Youth.” In re-
sponse to Sister Hej ks earlier coir.ments,
Brother Marek commended Sister Hejl
and all the other SPJST Youth Directors
for their work and explained that the
Supreme Lodge has the initial step ta
on all contest winners and entries will
be presented elsewhere in the Vestnik.
After selecting Granger as the site for
the next District 2 meeting and after
brief remarks by Editor Hošek, Supreme
Lodge Treasurer Jo.s. Koliha, and Su-
preme Lodge Attorney August Kacir, the
meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.

ing their annual Halloween dance on
Thursdáy night October 31, 1957.
Everyone is cordially invited to come
and enjsy themselves. If you háve ever
attended on of these dances you know
what fun it can be. There will be sond-
wiches and coffee in the kitchen. So get
out with the Goblins and háve a good
time at the Ennis Sokol Halí.
Remember this is the spooky •dance
and you will dance to the music of Erie
Honza and his orchestro.

Attention All Lodges
In District Seven
San Antonio, Tex.
Thanks for the inquiries from some
of our lodges about the new plans for
Youth Cíubs. The only Information I
háve at the present is that details on
ais new Youth Program háve not been
■fully completed, but will be annomiced
and forthcoming very soon.
In the interim, I am advised defi-
nitely that every local lodge must háve
a Youth Director sclected for super-
vising this job. With the annůal meet-
ings now approaching in local lodges, I
am making an urgent appeal that^ach
Local Lodge in our District shouífcL se-

lecfc a member to be clesignated as Youth
Director. As soon as your Youth Direc-
tor is selected, I would like to háve the
name and address available. When the
Supreme Lodge gives me details and
imstructions, I will then know who to
