Lodge 88 had two wedding receptions
on February 29 th: the Carrol Dvorak
and Llewellyn Kieke reception, and
the Kathy Blaha and James Reaux re-
ception. Carrol, daughter of Mrs. Rudy
Dvorak and the latě Mr. Dvorak, was
an active member of our Youth Club
during the several years X was Youth
Director, and it was a pleasure to háve
her in the Club and in our contests, for
she always showed outstanding sports-
manship! Kathy Blaha became fa-
mous in our Czech plays, and her latest
performance in the play I just men-
tioned was excellent. Our best wishes
to both of these fine couples!
I háve always enjoyed bragging
about our wonderful girls and boys,
and that is something I shall continue
to do! Marie Vornsand, daughter of
Sister Evelyn and Brother Bili Vorn-

North Texas State University at

LODGE: NO. 6, COTTONWOOD
Dear Reaclers,
Here are just a few lineš to those
who so generously gave their kind
efforts in helping out with the work
and donations to our lodge halí. Words
cannot adequately express the appre-
ciation to those who came and gave,
but we do want to say “Thank you”
for coming. Come again when you can.
We know someday you will be glad you
clid — when the halí is finished. It will
look much better, with more room
for everything, and conveniences in
every way for everyone.
The brothers who helped since my
last report are Brothers George Strat-
en, who worked last Saturday after-
noon after getting home from Waeo
frorn his regular job; Alvin Schuetz
who worked a few hours one dav last
week during the bad weather, when
he could not work at his regular job,
and Raymond Vochoska Jr., of Houston
came early last Friday morning at 1:30
a.m. to be on time for work that same
day. He took three days of his 7-day
vacation to come and help us. Ray-
mond and his family were staying at
his parou tur here at West.
Others are Bro. Rudolph Novotný,
Bro. Ludvik Dobecka, Jimrnie Krizan,
and Michael Marek.
Other men who helped this past
week were Jerry Drozd, (non-member),
Frank Holacka, (RVOS member), Bro.
George Stra ten, taking his one-week
vacation now, so that he can help us,
instead of going fishing. Věry sweet
17
of him! James Pavliček also took his
week’s vacation and helped us iy2
days.
Other donations include $10 to use as
needed from Bro. and Sis. Ed Sinaj-
strla. They are unable to come out
and help; 1 lb. of coffee by Sister Anna
Holacka; 3 lbs. frozen fish portions,
bread, 2 lbs. of cookies by Bro. George
Smajstrla; 1 big bowl of potato salad
by Mrs. Jerry Zapalac; Mrs. Lillie
Pavlas brought a pork roast, sweet po-
tatoes, and sauerkraut one day; Sister
Mary Sumbera furnished two baked
d Lpks and dressing one day. and strudel
and kolaches on several other days;
Sister Katie Krizan made us some
good chicken šoup with home-made
noodles and baked chicken; Sister
Emily Vochoska brought us a pot of
good-tasting beef stew on the last day
oí my writing.
Many, many, various otlier tasty
dishes were brought to go along with
all these meats by other Sisters, too.
Also, Mrs. Alvin Schuetz, 1 lb. coffee,
2 pints of grecn beans, 1 quart peach-
es; Cottonwood Store (Bro. Raymond
Hromádka), 3 lbs. Folgers Coffee.
Sister Mary Sumbera brought us
kolaches, good ole “koblihy” and
klobasniky, some strudel on different
days. Everyone really enjoyed these
old-fashioned pastries.
Sister Willic Mae Helona brought
some pies one day, and one of our
sisters even brought some ice cream
one day.
Other sisters who helped rne serve
again this week on different days were
Violet Parma, Lydia Dobecka, Katie
Krizan, Georgia Pavliček, Virginia
Marek, and Georgia Parma.
A delicious chocolate cake was sent
in by Sister Marie Drews.
If we can’t get them by asking them
to come to work, wc are trying to get
them through their stomachs, Ha, Ha.
I’ve gained three pounds myself.
The halí will soon be finished. All
that is needed now is painting and
putting on siding. We could use a lot
of help for just a few days in order
to get through this coming week.
But, don’t let all this stop you from
coming; wc stiíl need helpers. The
same boys and girls are getting tired.
We need to change shifts.
Fraternally yours,
Ruth Krizan
(For all the Committee)
