LOCKHART, TEXAS
Dear Editor and Readers:
I read your editorial in the Věstník
of 26 February 1964, No. 9, very care-
fully, especially paragraph two of your
letter.
In my letter of 27 April 1960, Lodge
No. 58 Anton Čermák and myself pro-
pase d a pian for a refund percentage
and we called it “dividends.” What was
doně for this motion? Nothing! The
convention didn’t even mention the
motion. Whaťs the use of proposing
and talking when nobody does any-
thing* about them? Dele.gates are either
scared or something.
I forgot to mention in my Czech let-
ter the motions and amendments to
tlie by-laws of SPJST Lodge No. 88,
signed by Sister Frances Olexa.
Fraternally,
A. Kotulan,
Capt., A.U.S. (Retired)
(Brother Kotulan: The “editorial”
you attributed to me was actually writ-
ten by Bro. Frank Steiner that parti-
cular week. Rcgarding your other point
about nothing being* doně, we must all,
at one tirne or another, submit to de~
feat, especially in conventions and the
like. Many icleas and proposals are sub-
mitted; if a particular pian or idea
was not acted upon, it evidently was
not supported by enough delegates. We
must not adopt the attitude, however,
that “proposing and talking” should
stop just because a particular item
did not receive fa vor able action.
“Proposing* and talking” is what keeps
our democratie processes alive. The by-
law committee is a good plače to begin.
Thank yon for the invitation. — Ed.)
